Parshas Tazria
RAv CHAIM KANIEVSKY ZT"L
The Middle School held a few assemblies to help our students understand the tremendous loss of Rav Chaim Kanievsky ZT”L. Rabbi Yechezkel Zweig addressed the Upper Middle School and shared thoughts about the greatness of Rav Chaim and what it means for us to lose the gadol hador. Rabbi Yosef Wagner, of Ner Yisroel's Kollel Avodas Levi, addressed the Lower Middle School and shared many stories about Rav Chaim and his unique sensitivities and attributes. Rabbi Frohlich shared some personal anecdotes with both divisions and a beautiful video was shown to highlight the life of this Torah giant.
PURIM IN THE HIGH SCHOOL
The Lower Middle School went back in time for their “Bayamim Hahem” themed Purim Chagiga as they came to the “Royal Banquet” dressed in antiquated gowns. Each class then boarded a horse and buggy for a ride around campus.

In the Upper Middle School, the G.O. did an exquisite job decorating the auditorium with the “Paris U’Madai” theme for their Purim Chagiga. The room was transformed with an Eiffel Tower, French Bakery and a paint gallery. Each class demonstrated beautiful achdus as they planned costumes for their class that connected to the Purim story. The ideas were creative and hysterical! A tremendous thank you to Mrs. Rochelle Goldberg and Mrs. Shari Rochkind for writing and directing the humorous faculty skit.
MISHLOACH MANOS CONNECT
Mrs. Shuli Frand and G’mach spearheaded a new program called MM Connect. Every girl in the Upper Middle School received the name of another girl in her grade that lives in her neighborhood to deliver Mishloach Manos to on Purim. The goal was to encourage the girls to look beyond their close friends and give to someone to whom they otherwise might not have given, in this way fulfilling the mitzvah in a truly beautiful way. At the same time, this program ensured that every student in the Upper Middle School received at least one Mishloach Manos.
MOSHLEI HALASHON
Mazel tov to Mrs. Toby Sauer’s Fifth Grade for winning the national Moshlei Haloshon contest for the month of Shevat. As a reward, the girls were treated to a delicious ice cream party! The Moshlei Haloshon program, a project of the Chofetz Chaim Heritage Foundation, is an ongoing learning initiative that teaches students to be mindful and positive when talking and thinking.
LET'S EXPLORE THE ATMOSHPERE
Our Sixth Grade Earth Science classes wrapped up a unit on the atmosphere with a creative project. Mrs. Leah Ciment, Mrs. Ellie Shulman and Mrs. Leora Cantor's classes created beautiful posters and dioramas depicting the characteristics of each layer of the atmosphere. Miss Aviva Graber's class presented designs for imaginary hotels located in each of the layers of the atmosphere. What a great way for the students to apply what they have learned in an engaging way.
HELPING JEWS IN UKRAINE
Mrs. Grace Weissmann’s Seventh Grade Geography classes wanted to do something to help our brothers and sisters in Ukraine and have decided to coordinate a Ten Percent Raffle. The winning prize drawn will be ten percent of whatever amount is raised. The remaining ninety percent of the proceeds will be given to an organization helping Jews in Ukraine. We are so proud of our students for taking the initiative to help their fellow Jews.
SCIENCE FAIR
Our Eighth Grade students beamed with pride as they displayed their projects at the recent Annual Science Fair. The many parents (and siblings!) were glowing with nachas. Prior to the science fair, 16 judges with advanced degrees in the field of Science or Medicine were invited to view and judge the projects. The students were poised, confident and knowledgeable as they impressed the judges with their magnificent presentations. Thank you to Mrs. Shari Rochkind for arranging every detail, and to the rest of our Science teachers for the countless hours they put in to help the girls stretch themselves and succeed.
PI DAY 3.14159265359...
March 14th is recognized as National Pi Day because of its numeric date of 3/14. The Upper Middle School celebrated with special activities revolving around Pi including black and white circle cookies and math activities. Many of our math teachers even dressed up for the occasion! Eight Grader, Brachala Isbee, baked and decorated a Pi cake that she presented to her teacher, Mrs. Sandy Cohen. We enjoy combining top-notch education with a healthy dose of cake!
