GROWING OUR FUTURE
Is there a better way to prepare for Bais Yaakov’s annual campaign than to get our students and parents excited about participating in supporting our school? This week we had the benefit of having many parent volunteers join our development staff in giving out lawn signs to our carpools promoting this year's campaign Growing our Future from Seeds of Our Past. Additionally, each student received a cute “scrunchy” to identify with this wonderful cause – our Bais Yaakov! We continue to look at our past leaders, teachers, and alumnae to grow future mothers and leaders of Klal Yisroel.
KRIAH CAFE AND BOOK CLUB CELEBRATION
What better way to celebrate reading than having a nice cup of warm cocoa and treats when the weather is nice and cool? Our Third and Fourth Grades enjoyed such a delight this past month. Mrs. Chaya Hoffman transformed Room 162 into a Kriah Cocoa Café for our 3rd Grade to enjoy their celebration. The girls spent their Kriah Kash on various fun prizes, treats, and other things related to cocoa. These unique shopping events motivate the girls to higher levels of Hebrew reading practice, which translates into better performance for our young readers.

In the afternoon, our Fourth Grade Book Club also had a special event as they culminated their milestone for all students who read and wrote reports on a set amount of books this term. Each girl received a delicious cup of hot chocolate with gigantic marshmallows and a prize to recognize their accomplishments!
THE MISHKAN
As the Torah portions of these weeks focus on the construction of the Mishkan, Mrs. Hoffman taught and reviewed the various elements of the Mishkan and its vessels during our Erev Shabbos assemblies. The girls played a delightful game and enjoyed a fun time recognizing each of the special parts of this makom kadosh. We daven that soon, we too will be able to return to Yerushalayim to see these vessels in the Bais Hamikdash!
THIRD GRADE SIYUM ON PARSHAS VAYEIRA
This past month, the Third Grade completed their first parsha of Chumash, Parshas Vayeira! Each class conducted a special siyum where the girls made beautiful posters, prepared skits, planned games, and brought in plenty of siyum-food, related to the concepts they learned. The girls have already begun Parshas Chayei Sarah and are excited to learn Chumash each day!
TU B'SHEVAT BRACHOS
Our Fourth Grade spent Tu B'Shevat learning about Brachos. They played an enjoyable game and spent time answering amen to each other's brachos as they ate from the fruits and drinks of Eretz Yisroel.
BAIS YAAKOV YESODEI HALASHON
The Fourth Grade participates in the Chofetz Chaim Heritage Foundation's Yesodei HaLoshon program. This bein adam l'chaveiro program is used across the country to teach positive communication and social skills based on Torah lessons. Each week the students focus on putting extra effort into their interactions with others. The girls earn points by completing different actions. Everyone who achieves a certain amount of points at the end of the month receives a prize and an entry into the national raffle. This past month, Morah Chomi Bernstein's class won the raffle, and Chani Golish was the class winner. Mazel tov to all our Fourth Grade students who participate and to our other raffle winners this year - Chana Zomber in Morah Miriam Nelkin’s class as well as the following classes who won ice cream parties for the class this month: Morah Chomi Bernstein, Morah Miriam Nelkin, Morah Hindy Neumann, and Morah Yael Schwartz.
BOOK BUDDIES ARE BACK
Our Third Grade revived one of our most endearing projects Book Buddies. Each reading group has been paired with a preschool class allowing the Third Graders a chance to read a book to the preschool girls. The girls prepare and proudly read their selected book with good intonation and understanding. It is a real treat that allows our younger and older girls connect with each other. These connections forge friendly relationships around the entire school.
100TH DAY OF SCHOOL
This past TWOsDay was 2/22/22, and the whole Elementary and Preschool used the special day to celebrate this remarkable occurrence. What made it even more fun was that this particular day coincided with the annual celebration of our 100th day of school. Each class focused on the meaning of the number 100 and how much we learned this year during our first 100 days of school. Between the two events, we learned a lot about numbers and there was excitement in the building the whole day through.
MODEL MISHKAN
We thank Rabbi Hallel Newman for bringing his model of the Mishkan to our campus and spending much time explaining each element of the Mishkan to our teachers and students. Thank you to our PTA for sponsoring this incredible experience!
