We are excited to announce our BRLC summer course schedule!


Our industry-leading instructors will deliver training programs that will provide process safety professionals with the opportunity to expand their skillset, where they will combine theory and practice to secure an unparalleled learning experience for all participants.


SUMMER 2025 BRLC COURSES

Introduction to Natural Hazard Risk Assessments | June 5


Houston - In Person (1 day)


This one-day course is designed to introduce various natural perils that commonly threaten facility assets and associated business operations. In addition to demonstrating means to quantify these exposures, the course will overview typical mitigative solutions and outline critical emergency response plan elements.


Training is designed for the target audience of project managers, design engineers, and natural hazard response plan administrators; however, anyone interested in better understanding natural perils, enhancing resilience, or improving response plans will benefit from the material covered.

Process Safety Management (PSM) Course | July 15-16


Houston - In Person or Virtual (2 days)


This two-day course will focus not only on understanding hazards and risks but also the linkage to the key risk control systems necessary for sustainable safe operation. Course topics will include process safety awareness, the essentials of managing process safety, dust explosions, gas/vapor explosions, chemical reaction hazards and thermal stability of materials, among other subject matter. 


Learning outcomes for participants include:


  • Understanding the key factors of process safety management
  • Understanding hazard identification, risk assessment, and management of risk
  • Understanding the process safety culture and commitment
  • Understanding how to implement sustainable improvements in process safety management


This course is beneficial for anyone who wants a better understand of the key factors of process safety management.

PHA/LOPA Training | July 22-24


Chicago - In Person (3 days)


This three-day course is intended to give participants an overview of the PHA / LOPA process by teaching techniques and tools to assist in guiding teams through the qualitative risk analysis process. The course will provide instruction on topics such as hazard identification, team management, HAZOP method review, What-if analysis and checklists, and more.

Fire Protection and Emergency Response Fundamentals | August 5-6


Houston - In Person (2 days)


This two-day course will provide attendees with a foundational understanding of the importance of proper design and implementation of fixed fire protection systems in conjunction with effective emergency response resources – specifically in high-hazard industries such as Energy, Chemical/Petrochemical, and related fields.


Training is designed for the target audience of fire and safety professionals, insurance risk engineers, design engineers, and others interested in a better understanding of best practices in fire protection and fire consequence mitigation.

Biofuels Risk Management Course: Sustainable Aviation Fuel | August 13


Virtual (1 half-day)


This half-day course is intended to give participants an overview of risk management in the biofuels industry with a focus on Sustainable Aviation Fuel. The course will discuss the potential hazards associated with the production, storage, and transportation of biofuels, methods to assess the consequence and risk of those hazards, as well as mitigation techniques used in the biofuels industry.


This course will benefit those in the biofuels production industry, project managers for biofuels-related capital projects, emergency response personnel, and process safety personnel.

Incident Investigation Training | September 16-17


Houston - In Person (2 days)


In this course, participants will learn how to perform a scientifically rigorous incident investigation based on BakerRisk’s vast experience in this area across a broad spectrum of industries. Through a range of active, hands-on sessions, participants will practice techniques for hypothesis development, witness interviews, timeline creation, and root cause analysis, among others. This course is ideal for engineers, managers, and anyone who is involved in incident investigations at any capacity at your facility.  

Incident Investigation Training, Scene Documentation, & Evidence Collection Combo Course | September 16-18


Houston - In Person (3 days)


This three-day combined course is intended to give participants an overview of the Incident Investigations Training and Incident Scene Documentation and Evidence Collection course. This course is ideal for evidence technicians, engineers, managers, and investigators who are involved in hands-on work in scene investigation and evidence collection, and managers and legal counsel who are involved with incident investigations. 

Incident Scene Documentation and Evidence Collection Course | September 18


Houston - In Person (1 day)


This one-day course focuses on properly documenting an incident scene, and collecting and preserving evidence, both physical and digital. This course is a complement to our 2-day incident investigation course. Items identified by investigators as evidence must be documented, collected, and preserved using methodologies consistent with accepted standards and guidelines. 


This course is ideal for evidence technicians, engineers, managers, and investigators who are involved in hands-on work in scene investigation and evidence collection, and managers and legal counsel who are involved with incident investigations.
