Baking Soda & Epsom Salt Baths
"Magnesium is needed in every part and system of the body and is required by 300 different enzymes each of which initiates or speeds up biochemical reactions in the body."
~EastWest Healing

"Probably other minerals will enter the skin as easily - magnesium sulphate (epsom salts) is a traditional treatment for inflammations. Since carbon dioxide dissolves best in 'oil loving' material such as the skin, it enters the body even against a concentration gradient. Adding baking soda to an epsom salts soak should make it more effective."
~Raymond Peat, PhD.

Baking soda is a good source of carbon dioxide and works well with Epsom salt, which makes the bath much more effective. Epsom salt is a great way to get magnesium into our body!

WHY YOU SHOULD START INCORPORATING BAKING SODA AND EPSOM SALT BATHS:

- STRESS:
Baking soda and epsom salt baths help relieve stress! When you are under stress, magnesium is lowered and our adrenaline hormone is elevated. In the short term this is perfectly fine, but long term elevation of stress hormones can...

 Training Tip(s): Abdominals
When training the abdominals, it is very important to exhale the air out during the contraction phase! Don't just perform the movement without squeezing the abdominals as hard as possible! Also, be sure to pull the abdominals in to the spine as much as possible while performing the movement, contracting through each phase. Don't just move mindlessly! Focus on each repetition, one at a time, forcibly contracting and exhaling. As with any body part trained, focus on quality, not quantity!

Take Aways:

- EXHALE:
A big factor in sculpting the abdominals is to exhale as much air out as possible while performing the abdominal movement.

- PULL THE ABDOMINALS  INWARD TOWARDS THE SPINE:
To help develop a nice flat stomach and target the abdominals properly, pulling them in to the spine is imperative.

- CONTRACT/SQUEEZE:
Just like any other muscle that you want to develop, applying tension to that muscle is what is need. Other muscles will want to assist the movement, but it is very important to...

Stop Suffering "For Health"

"You are allowed to be both a masterpiece and a work in progress"
~Sophia Bush

“Pain is the feeling. Suffering is the effect the pain inflicts. If one can endure pain, one can live without suffering. If one can withstand pain, one can withstand anything. If one can learn to control pain, one can learn to control oneself. ”
~James Frey

When most of us think of health, we don't equate it with suffering! In fact, we consider it to entail the opposite; the absence and/or minimization of a sense of suffering So why is it that people striving to live healthfully suffer in the name of "health", inducing undue struggle and upon themselves? It has to do with 'Power of Mind!" While pain is a natural and necessary part of living, as it is a way we recognizes something needs our attention, suffering is not! Suffering comes from perception! Much of it is about moment to moment mindset and thought processes. Mental strength has everything to do with health, no matter what circumstance you may find yourself in! The ability to center oneself and shift one's focus and perspective in response to challenges is important!

Many people go to extremes, having adopted various beliefs and "ideas" (ie. the phrase "no pain, no gain") that are both unrealistic and harmful! Part of health is going to be...
