BCD Launches New Community Action Programs

to Kick-Start Dems

Everyone who's worked in a volunteer organization knows how it goes. Even in clubs with hundreds of members, the same couple dozen people end up doing all the work.

The problem is we simply have too much to do for a handful of people to manage. Even so, we have made big strides in recent times, recruiting and electing local candidates, launching community engagement programs and raising all the money it takes to do that.

We all take strength and pleasure in coming together to share our hopes and fears. The next step is to talk about how we can take action. Just imagine what we can accomplish when more of us are pitching in to work on new projects and initiatives!

Thanks so much to those of you who took the time to complete our recent social interest survey. We are hoping more of you will weigh in on the types of fundraising events you would like to see as we begin to reload our coffers to sponsor candidates in local races in 2026.

Autumn Action Agenda

Three New Initiatives

BLUE KIDS CLUB

The little Hispanic girl at the Foley protest looked like a princess. She wore a pink sundress, dark curls framing her pretty face as she wiggled into the Baldwin County Democrats backpack her mom just handed her.

An African-American woman brought her four children to protest outside a Barry Moore appearance at Foley City Hall.

An seventh-grader squirmed dutifully through dry club meetings, making the best of it by savoring the ice cream.

More and more, school-age kids have been showing up at BCD meetings and events. For months, moms have been talking about needing Progressive meet-ups for their children and teens. Their kids have no peer support for liberal beliefs.

Recently, some parents say their schools are funneling students into Turning Point clubs. Turning Point USA is a right-wing organization operating in high schools and college campuses founded by Charlie Kirk, who was assassinated at a rally last month.

So now its time for Baldwin County Dems to start nourishing our future.

BCD is launching the Blue Kids Club. We're organizing entertaining monthly social gatherings for school-age children in various locations. We are looking for parents who want to help with kid-friendly outings and get-togethers from ice cream socials to beach parties and park picnics. Imagination encouraged.

It's a way to connect young Dems of the future so they'll have the permission and support structure they'll need to make sure Progressive values live on.

Please sign up below if you would like your kids to be a part of an after-school group or if you want to help organize get-togethers.

Hope you will join us for our Fall Family Social to plan our Kids Club kickoff Nov. 1 in Fairhope. RSVP according to the info in the flyer above.

BCD BBQ BROS

Hey Guys! Let's light a fire under your political power!

As Dems did the dismal task of taking stock after the Trump takeover, it came to the attention of political pundits that we were leaving our men out in the cold realms of political purgatory.

The vision is to bring Baldwin County Blue Boys together to do something fun and productive.

It will be like tailgating - but at political events instead of football games.

Drink a few beers and draw up a game plan. Figure out whose grills are mas macho (and moveable). Flip a few burgers and brats. Enjoy the comaradarie of Progressive pals while taking action with other men who share your values. Help us raise money to support Blue candidates on Baldwin County ballots.

The vision is to create the BCD BBQ Bros Club. It is a men's group whose mission is to provide barbecue for various BCD events.

This way, we have a mechanism in place so we can quickly and cheaply provide food for fundraisers and other events. It will give us more flexibility and bigger profit margins. At the same time, we can engage our male friends to become more involved by offering them a cool way to contribute to local Democratic efforts.

Please let your male friends know about this fun new club!

Sign up below to attend the first organizational meeting, time and place TBA. We're hoping guys from all across Baldwin County will gather in a central place to get this Democratic bro bash started!

T Time For Baldwin County Democrats

Design Contest and Online Store

BCD T's Available Soon

Just in time for holiday shopping - we're offering the BCD T-shirts you've been asking for. Now, you can check names off your Christmas list and help earn money to support Baldwin County candidates for school board, county commission and state senators and representatives in next year's midterm elections

We're launching an online store within the next couple of weeks. It will allow us to offer a wide range of options from tanks to sweats, mugs, water bottles and more. You can pick your own color and style. We'll let you know as soon as it's up and running.

Our classic logo sports wear and novelties are available now at the link below. If you're shopping for presents, but not sure which alternative your giftees will prefer, you can also buy a gift card that lets them choose for themselves.

SLOGAN/DESIGN CONTEST

But we're upping our options even more. We're inviting Dems of all ages to show off their creativity in our T-shirt design contest. We are not looking to replace our current BCD logo, which we love. Our goal is to encourage participation and showcase all the creative talent of our members and their families for two special-edition motif T's.

Here's how it works:

Theme: Democracy Matters/ What Democracy Means

There will be two separate categories - one for contestants 13 and under and another for 14 and over. Designs for the kids' class should be suitable to be worn by kids of that age range.

NO AI-generated submissions please!

Submit designs with paint, crayons, markers, digital - go wild! Please send digital design, along with name, age, email address and phone to bcdchair@baldwindemocrats.org. by Nov. 12. Drop off drawings at the Family Fun Event kickoff party Nov. 1 and we'll display them for all to see. If you can't make it, please use the email above to make arrangements.

The Baldwin County Democrats Executive Committee will vote on the two divisions of contest winners at the monthly board meeting Nov. 17. We will then transform winning designs into camera-ready art and have merch available on our market site shortly after.

With your Help,

This Could Be the Largest Day of Protest in Modern History

In June, millions of us took to the streets and proved something powerful: When we stand together, we can drown out authoritarianism with the voices of everyday people demanding freedom.

Now we're about to do it again—and make it even bigger.

On October 18, we're organizing what could be the largest nonviolent day of protest in modern U.S. history. About 2400 protests are planned in every single state and even internationally. That's more events than the first No Kings protests in June. Join us in Fairhope as we fill our streets with people.

It's that time again!
