HAVE YOU HEARD THE NEWS? BALLARD SEAFOODFEST JUST
ANNOUNCED THE 2018 MAINSTAGE LINEUP!
What started as a good ole neighborhood summer barbecue has evolved into the biggest summer block party this side of I-5. There are so many things to celebrate about Ballard and Ballard SeafoodFest is the perfect opportunity to share all the things we love about the neighborhood with the rest of the world. The Alder-smoked salmon barbecue will remain the staple of the weekend's program but the entertainment options grow year after year. This year we are really excited to share our MainStage music lineup with you. Some are local and some are international sensations and all are going to bring the funky fun to the heart of Ballard on July 13-15th!

The festival will kick off on Friday, July 13th with the opening of the Ballard Beer Garden at 5 p.m., followed by the crowd pleasing local favorites, #All4Doras and Nite Wave.

On Saturday, July 14th we start the day of fish and fun with Lanford Black, Acid Tongue, Smokey Brights, The Grizzled Mighty. New this year are TWO headlining acts and we are excited to welcome, All Them Witches and Blitzen Trapper to rock the MainStage this year.

That is not all, because Sunday's lineup is incredible too. Don't worry, this is a free festival so you can come all THREE days if you like. On July 15th, work up an appetite with some morning Zumba hosted by Ballard Health Club followed by musical talents: School of Rock, Whitney Monge and Gypsy Temple. Purple Mane (Seattle's Prince cover band) will set the tone for an incredible evening featuring The Dead South

We are pleased to also announce that KEXP is a co-presenter again this year.
If you are curious about some of the MainStage acts, KEXP has organized some video links in their blog.  Or if you want to learn more about these bands there are links on our website at www.seafoodfest.org/music

This community festival is made possible each year through the dedication of hundreds of volunteers and our generous sponsors.

Is your business or organization interested in partnering with us for the 2018 festival? There are still opportunities to become a sponsor at any level ( sponsor levels start at $100) and with a music lineup like this year's your company/organization is sure to get some serious attention. If you would like to join us in fish and fun as a sponsor please contact Mike Stewart at 206-784-9705 extension 1. We look forward to sharing more festival additions in store this year and will reveal them soon.

CITY KICKS OFF LITTER ABATEMENT PILOT PROGRAM IN WEST WOODLAND

The city of Seattle is trying out ways to tackle the litter issues that affect many Seattle neighborhoods. They recently partnered with the Ballard Alliance looking for key areas to focus on in Ballard. Their first round of cleanups were in West Woodland focusing on our Ballard Brewery District.
According to the City of Seattle, the "Litter Abatement Pilot Program p rovides enhanced services to address litter and its impacts on a community in partnership with community groups and Business Improvement Associations. Levels of service are determined by the amount of litter in the neighborhoods and input from community partners."
The enhanced services include:

Increased area and frequency of litter clean-up, including sweeping of streets and sidewalks, removing accumulations of litter from the tops of litter cans, and sharps collection.
  • Increased Illegal dumping pick-up from the neighborhood core and sidewalk area.
  • Increased pressure washing of the sidewalks.
  • Clean-up of targeted alleys, including pressure washing and increased grease tank servicing.
  • Outreach and education to retail and food service businesses, and multifamily on food waste, recycling, composting and garbage services.
This program is separate from the Ballard Alliance's Clean Sidewalks program through the Ballard Business Improvement District .
We are getting the band back together! Well, there will be some familiar faces and some missing in this year's Ballard SeafoodFest Band at the 17th of May Parade. Last year the floating concert won 1st place for Novelty at the parade.
