A1BALLARD ALLIANCE PARTNERS WITH THE MILLIONAIR CLUB CHARITY TO PROVIDE TWICE WEEKLY CLEANING SERVICE

The Ballard Alliance is pleased to announce that it is partnering with Temporary Staffing Solutions at the  Millionair Club Charity (MCC) to provide our sidewalk cleaning services within the Ballard Improvement Area.  You may have noticed crews out cleaning up litter and removing years of posters on the telephone poles recently.  On Mondays and Fridays, the Millionair Club's crews will be cleaning the sidewalks and select alleyways within the BIA footprint.

"Our partnership with the Millionair Club represents a unique opportunity for the Ballard Alliance to not only enhance our neighborhood through regular sidewalk cleaning, it allows us to leverage our resources to help those in need find employment and the skills training required to advance their lives,"  said Ballard Alliance Executive Director Mike Stewart.

The Millionair Club Charity will provide the following services on behalf of the Ballard Alliance:
  • Twice weekly sidewalk and curb cleaning, including fall leaf removal.

  • Weekly cleaning of alleyways behind Market Street and Ballard Avenue.

  • Sharps pick-up and removal

  • Graffiti removal on public structures and notification of graffiti found on private property.

  • Periodic removal of posters affixed to telephone and power poles.

The Millionair Club is more than just a community cleaning company, it is a charity dedicated to helping men and women, who may be experiencing homelessness,  find employment, as well as providing essential services in the greater Seattle area. Many people do not realize the barriers and essentials to finding permanent and even temporary employment and the MCC bridges that gap.

Jim Miller, Executive Director of the Millionair Club Charity, stated that they are "looking  forward to a long and prosperous relationship with the Ballard Alliance in maintaining the public spaces with men and women who turned to the Millionair Club for jobs and support services. This partnership is a win-win for all."

When you see the MCC crews out there on behalf of the Ballard Alliance to make Ballard more beautiful, know that there is more happening in our community than a swept sidewalk. To learn more about the programs and services offered by the Millionair Club Charity contact Director of Operations, Chris Rylko at [email protected].

Speaking of clean streets...here is a photo of how the streets of Ballard began in the 1890s.

Loggers, street grading crews and their animals did the tedious work of logging, pulling out stumps, clearing, plowing, and grading the roads that would later become our main thoroughfares.
