A1BALLARD ARTWALK RETURNS TO SECOND SATURDAYS
The Ballard Alliance is proud to announce that the Ballard ArtWalk has returned to the second Saturday of the month!  We greatly appreciate all of the feedback we have received and are looking forward to rolling out several new elements of this long-standing neighborhood program.
" Market Street Shoes is excited for the Ballard ArtWalk's return to second Saturdays beginning on May 13," said Market Street Shoes Owner Ryan Stauffer.

"Market Street Shoes strives to support emerging artists by providing exposure on busy Saturday evenings that is crucial in helping them establish their artistic careers," said Ryan. "We are pleased to be hosting the Ballard ArtWalk; it's great for our patrons, our artist partners and it's an amazing opportunity for us to serve our Ballard community."

May's Ballard ArtWalk will be a lively event. Literally.

We will feature live music in Bergen Place with Swing 3PO, a swing and rag-style jazz trio. The Ballard Landmark will host a live pottery demonstration with pottery artist Bruce McIntyre. Bruce will be spinning his wheel and creating masterpieces before your eyes. The Landmark will also host Johnny7 and the Black Crabs.

And while you're strolling through, be sure to check out a live painting demonstration with artist David Johansson at the Sanborn Building on Ballard Avenue

The Ballard ArtWalk began in 1997, and is a production of the Ballard Alliance, whose mission is to help promote the event and support participating businesses and artists in the Ballard community.

Don't forget to follow us on social media to stay informed with up-to- the-minute information about each month's event.

What is your favorite aspect of owning a business in Ballard?
Ballard has always been my favorite neighborhood, and I have been extremely grateful here. From a business experience, Ballard has everything a retailer would want: excellent walkability, beautiful historical atmosphere, and most importantly a sense of community. So many businesses here are small businesses and unique in their own right. I can't walk down the street without running into someone I know who runs or works at a place that I personally shop/eat at. Easily my favorite part is that sense of it being a true neighborhood, it's really a city inside of a city.
I think that what makes Ballyhoo unique is that it is both a place where you can purchase something you can't find nearly anywhere else, as well as, somewhere you can have a museum experience. Even if someone comes in and doesn't spend any money, they can still have fun looking, touching, and learning. We constantly try to provide products that inspire wonder and bring elements from all over the world that people may never get to see otherwise in person.
What do we want people to know about our business?
We want people to know that this is a place where someone can bring their friends or their whole family. It's kid-friendly and it's okay to come in, look around, and ask questions. We don't want people to feel pressured. Just come in and appreciate the antiques for the historical context they provide and the taxidermy which exhibits the beauty of nature and the animal kingdom.
What is you favorite place or thing to do in Ballard?
Rather than naming favorites, I'll share my typical Ballard routine. I usually head into Cafe Umbria for a coffee to start my day. I'll do my gift shopping at Lucca, the Palm Room, and Second Ascent. After work you'll find me at the Sunset grabbing a drink and seeing a show. When people are visiting, I'll take them to Bitterroot or Percy's. When I'm out with my friends we'll eat and drink at Hattie's Hat. I love to go climbing at Stone Gardens. On nice days I will head down to Golden Gardens with my friends, or to the locks to eat or see if I can see any salmon or seals (I'm not too fond of seeing the Canadian Geese though). I don't mean to name drop, but you just don't need to leave Ballard if you don't want!
