Our Ballard
The holiday season in Ballard just became brighter thanks to the holiday lighting program. More than 1,700 strands of lights are adorning the tree canopies along Ballard Avenue and Market Street, and in Marvin's Garden and Bergen Place Park.

Many Ballard businesses are adjusting their hours and staying open later during the holiday shopping season. The lights not only create a festive ambiance but provide safer walkways for shoppers and restaurant goers to enjoy.
This program started in 2013 and was previously funded through the Ballard Chamber of Commerce and donations from Ballard area businesses. The program is now managed by the Ballard Alliance and BIA Rate-Payer Advisory Board. You may have noticed the crews from, Holiday Spirit Lighting, working hard through the nights. Holiday Lighting Program Manager, Devin Reynolds said, " We chose Holiday Spirit Lighting as our vendor this year because they were able to place the lights in the tree canopies, rather than only displaying them on the tree trunks, as vendors have done in the past." The option to light only the tree canopies will reduce the interference from vandals and critters tampering with the hardware.

If you notice any holiday light outages throughout the neighborhood, please contact Devin Reynolds at 206-784-9705, extension 3. However, leading up to Ballard HolidayFest, on November 25th, the lights in Bergen Place Park will go dark until a visitor from the North Pole turns them on.

The lights are officially on for you to enjoy from now until late January 2018.

Are you excited for the new museum yet will cherish all the memories made at the current Nordic Heritage Museum? Well here is one more chance to make some more memories at Yulefest 2017. Yulefest is the final event at the Museum's NW 67th Street location. This event, in its 40th year, will continue the tradition of Nordic Christmas food and drinks, music, dancing, kid's crafts, auctions, arts & crafts vendors and we heard a rumor that Santa will be visiting all the good little girls and boys at the event.

Yulefest will also feature a raffle with the Grand Prize of a Brown's Point Lighthouse Cottage weekend getaway. The lighthouse is a working museum and the winners will act as honorary light keepers.  Additionally, this family-friendly event has an over 21  section offering alcoholic beverages. Come out and celebrate in Ballard at the 40th Yulefest!

Adult admission is $5 per person. Kids twelve and under are admitted for free.
Admission is complimentary for Nordic Heritage Museum Members.
