LetterMikeA Message of Change and Gratitude from the Ballard Chamber of Commerce
On behalf of the Ballard Chamber of Commerce, I would like to take a moment during this season of gratitude to thank all our members, partners and community leaders. This organization depends upon the generous participation, contribution and leadership of its members to thrive. Thank you to all the talented individuals who worked on committees, volunteered or participated in one of our many events and initiatives.

There is much to be thankful for!

We are excited to announce that the Ballard Improvement Area (BIA) was approved by the City of Seattle last month.

The BIA is a long-term, sustainably-funded leadership organization representing Ballard's businesses, residents and property owners. This was the result of more than two years of hard work and dedication from our Board of Directors, the Ballard Partnership for Smart Growth as well as commercial and residential property owners throughout Ballard. The BIA will implement programs and services critical to ensuring that Ballard remains a vital place to live, shop, work, eat and play.

In this new capacity, the Ballard Chamber will represent both business and residential interests. To that end, the Ballard Chamber will become The Ballard Alliance on January 1, 2017.

The Ballard Alliance will administer the projects within the scope of the BIA, such as: Clean Streets and Graffiti Removal, Public Safety and Health Enhancement, Marketing and Promotions, Business Development and Advocacy/Urban Design/Transportation. BIA funds will be used only to support these identified programs. The organization will adjust staffing resources and contracts appropriately to deliver these services.

Services currently provided by the Ballard Chamber will continue, including marketing, networking, programs, and production of the Ballard SeafoodFest. The Ballard Chamber will outline the specific details for current Chamber members that reside within and beyond the boundary of the BIA next month.

We are excited to continue serving our community and supporting the interests of commercial and residential property owners, residents, business owners and visitors. This transformation will bring about a new look, a new logo, and a new location for the organization; but it will continue to provide the same dedication to building and advocating for a better Ballard.

All the Best,

Mike Stewart, Executive Director
Ballard Chamber of Commerce

What is your favorite aspect of owning a business in Ballard? My favorite aspect of owning a business in Ballard is the community.  I love that I can walk to work.  It is great to be part of the community as a business owner, but also as a homeowner and a mom.  I get to enjoy all the different aspects of being a member of the Ballard community.

What makes your store and services unique? Ballard Acupuncture Center is unique in that we offer Acupuncture as well as Functional Medicine treatments.  Functional Medicine is a lab-based approach that addresses five common conditions- weight gain, fatigue, depression, female hormone and digestive problems.

What do you want people to know about you or your business/organization? I would like people to know that I have been practicing Acupuncture for more than 13 years now and I still love what I do.  I love that I can help so many people who come in for many different reasons from low back pain, headaches, neck pain, infertility concerns, menopause, and stress & anxiety to sleep issues.

What is you favorite place or thing to do in Ballard? My favorite things to do in Ballard are going to the Sunday Farmer's Market, getting a glass of wine at Noble Fir and getting pho and then going to a movie with my family.

Commitment to Community
The caring Chamber members at  Ballard Acupuncture Center are proud to support local nonprofit WestSide Baby by helping to spread some JOY this holiday season.

They will be hosting a drive to gather the clothing and supplies needed to keep kids in our community safe, warm and dry.

The drive will run from  November 29th to December 30th at Ballard Acupuncture Center located at 2224 NW 56th Street. The donated items will benefit the 41,000 children, aged 12 and under, in King County who live below the federal poverty line.

Please drop off size 6 diapers, winter coats, wipes, shampoo/baby wash, diaper cream, new underwear, socks, and pajamas and say hello to Avigail and her team!

LightupLight up Ballard
The long dark days of winter just got a bit brighter, thanks to our local merchants and business owners. The beautiful holiday lights are made possible through donations. If you would still like to contribute, it is not to late.

Donations cover the cost of installing lights, maintaining and taking them down each year. We're asking all neighborhood merchants and businesses contribute $250, or what ever you can give this year, to make our neighborhood festive and bright!

Please send checks to Ballard Chamber of Commerce, 2208 NW Market Street, Seattle, WA 98107, and note holiday lights donation in the memo section.
