Real IDs Needed for 2020 Balloon Fiesta

As you plan for your 2020 Balloon Fiesta trip, be sure to add a Real ID to your list. TSA at all U.S. airports will begin enforcing the use of a Real ID or passport to board an airplane on October 1, 2020. To learn more about Real IDs, click here:  https://www.tsa.gov/real-id .

Pat Young is Balloon Fiesta's Deputy Director of Public Safety. For the nine days of the Balloon Fiesta, he works with the rest of the public safety team to keep guests from around the world safe.

January in Ballooning

In January of 1998, pilot Dick Rutan and co-pilot David Melton attempted to fly around the world in a balloon. The team launched from Albuqueruqe, New Mexico and planned to utilize the jet stream air currents for an estimated 18 days. This attempt was unsuccessful.
