Balloon Fiesta Insider
Spring is in the air, and so are our friends, the bees! No, we’re not talking about “Joelly” and “Joey Bee,” but rather New Mexico honeybees! Found at Balloon Fiesta’s warehouse were between 60 and 80 thousand bees, looking for a hive. Luckily, Balloon Fiesta team members were able to help them find a home. Our team worked with ABQ Hive Rental to re-locate the colony to a hive of their own, away from Balloon Fiesta, and incorporate them into their organization’s Hive Rental program for beekeepers and aspiring beekeepers.

May in Ballooning
On May 21, 2000 Lindsay Muir set the duration world record for an AX-10 type balloon, by flying for 19 hours, 7 minutes and 55 seconds. Muir took flight in Paddock Wood, Kent, with the hopes of flying for 24 hours and crossing the Channel to France. In spite of bad weather, she landed safely, near Lisbourg in France. This record is still upheld today. Learn more about this flight, here:
