Information for ministers, educators, church administrators, clerks, and congregations

Banbury Installed as Moderator

Rev. Rosalind Banbury was installed as moderator of Presbytery of the James on Saturday, February 18, at the 113th meeting. Since her honorable retirement in 2021, Rosalind has been serving Bethlehem Church as interim pastor.

Ruling elder Cherry Peters was installed as vice moderator. Cherry is a member of Second Church in Richmond, where she has served as a deacon, elder, and trustee. She also has served on the presbytery's Commission on Ministry.

Congratulations and thanks to Rosalind and Cherry for stepping into these new roles.

We also are grateful to Dan Jordanger, whose service as moderator began October 2021 and concluded on Saturday. Dan, a ruling elder at Providence Church in Gum Spring, presided over an astounding seven meetings during his term.

Into the Church Triumphant

Two saints with local ties entered the Church Triumphant last week.

Ruth Moreau passed February 12. She was the wife of Rev. Al Moreau, a member of Presbytery of the James until 2020, when he was dismissed to Presbytery of Nevada. A memorial service will be held at the Presbyterian Church in Fredericksburg on March 18 at 11:00 a.m. Ruth's obituary was not available at the time of publication.

Louisa Yeuell died February 14. Her service to the church included positions as director of Christian education at two Episcopal churches and director of admissions at the Presbyterian School of Christian Education. She was the wife of Rev. H. Davis Yeuell. A memorial service celebrating Louisa’s life was February 18 at Second Church in Richmond. Read Louisa's obituary here.

Our deepest sympathies and prayers are with the families of Ruth and Louisa.
