Hi everyone! Welcome to what’s hopefully the only time in our lives that we start a school year like this. Welcome especially to all the new people on here!
Just a few words about our Facebook Group (Royal Oak High School Band and Orchestra Boosters): This is for parents of all Instrumental Music students at ROHS. You probably didn’t feel it, but as soon as your student signed up for a music class, you magically became a Royal Oak High School Band and Orchestra Booster! It probably happened as you slept the night after your student officially registered, so you wouldn’t have noticed.
Our FB group is a mix of “veteran” and new parents. We use this to try to explain how to get involved, raise awareness of fundraising opportunities to support the students in the program and communicate what we can.
One thing you will NOT see on Facebook: posts directly made by the music directors or anyone employed by the ROHS music department.
This forum is not a substitute for communicating with the teachers. If you need to speak with Mr. Jensen, Mr. Rose, or Ms. Jensen, *you need to contact them directly through their school emails.* Please do not leave messages about absences, grading questions, or class policies here. They will not see them.
We have many helpful parents participating in this group that can offer advice, but nothing here can be construed as an official comment of the ROHS Instrumental Music Department unless it is a repost of a Remind Announcement or a .pdf of a file that they distribute.
One thing that you WILL see on Facebook: awesome parents who want to help you and your student have success in the program and who want you to get involved with our School Parent community so that you can be the future of this group and pay it forward!
This environment we’re in unfortunately devastates the social aspect of this Booster group. Like everything else in the world, our social gatherings and events are on hold, and with it our best opportunities to get to know each other. But let’s try to hold it together, be kind to each other, and find new ways to support our kids. The start of the year may not be optimal, but hopefully we can finish on a great note!

B&O Parents: How to Stay Informed
Information regarding the 2020-21 school year is constantly being updated. Our website, Facebook group, weekly announcements and FAQ page are the BEST way to stay up to date with the latest news and changes. We will try our best to get the information to you as quickly as possible. The following will help:
Website - Visit the rohsbob.org website and especially the INFORMATION page frequently.
Facebook - Request to join "Royal Oak High School Band & Orchestra Boosters" private group.
Weekly Announcements - Be sure you (and your student) join our email list to get weekly announcements. Click on the blue button on the HOME page to sign up. Your email will not be sold or shared for any purpose other than ROHS instrumental music department news.

Volunteers Needed: B&O Event Chairs and Co-chairs
We have several open Board and committee positions for the 2020-2021 school year. Many of these are co-chair positions (for either Band or Orchestra parents) so you can get your feet wet before really jumping into ROHSBOB. Please contact email@example.com if you are interested or would like to know more about the following positions:
B&O Co-Treasurer: this Board position will be mentored by the current treasurers.
MB Camp & Car Wash: two co-chairs to co-ordinate Band Camp events and distributions with Mr. Jensen. Volunteers will be mentored by current chairs to prepare them for the 2021 season.
B&O Dresses and Tuxes: co-chair to help coordinate dress and tux distribution and fittings
MB Glow Show: co-chair to help plan the show
B&O Banquet: one co-chair to plan the end of the year banquet
B&O Ford Drive for UR School: chair to help plan the event in the spring
