Welcome to 2020-21!
Welcome New Parents and Students to ROHS Band & Orchestra (B&O)!
As a parent of a marching band, orchestra, band, or jazz student, YOU are automatically a member of the Royal Oak High School Band & Orchestra Boosters (aka ROHSBOB.) The Boosters strive to provide the necessary funding and volunteers to keep our music programs running. We are the roadies, the drivers, the uniform organizers, the food preparers and servers, the chaperones, the advertisers, and the cheering section… and we need YOU (scroll down to see open volunteer positions)! Marching Band (MB) & Color Guard (CG): Aug. 24-28, 2020 is MB Camp Week!
MB Camp Schedule Update!
We've discovered that there are two schedules out there that do not match. We sincerely apologize for the confusion. For both the New Member rehearsal and band camp, rehearsal will be from 9am-11:30am. Report time for New Member rehearsal is 8:30am for all. Report times for next week's camp are outlined in the Marching Band Procedures document. All rehearsals will end at 11:30am with staggered releases. Again, we apologize for this confusion.

Pack Your Personal Bag & Bring it to Camp Each Day.
Pack all personal items in a backpack or duffel bag. The bag should contain:
- Refillable water bottle (CLEARLY MARKED with your name)
- Sunscreen (SPF 30 or higher)
- Healthy snacks
- MB hat & sunglasses
- Extra instrument reeds, lubricants, swabs, etc.
- Lyre & flip folder
- Dot book (those needing/ordering dot books will receive them on the first day)
- Hand sanitizer & wipes
- Medication (epi-pens, inhalers, etc.)
STUDENTS ARE NOT PERMITTED TO SHARE PERSONAL ITEMS!
Remember, Safety First!
As MB Camp approaches, it is EXTREMELY important that you protect yourself from the Covid19 virus in every way possible. Our procedures at camp are extensive with safety for all in mind. Our efforts will be futile if students behave casually outside of camp. It won’t take much to shut us down, so PLEASE do everything possible to follow guidelines:
- Adhere to 6 ft. social distance at all times (further when possible.)
- Wear a mask covering your nose and mouth when in public, and avoid those who don’t.
- Avoid touching your face as much as possible.
- Wash your hands with warm soapy water at least two times a day, and always before you eat or drink, and always after using the bathroom.
- Use sanitizer on things you touch often, and any time you touch something someone else has touched. (Door handles, remote controls, phones, gas pumps, shopping carts, credit card pin pads, instruments and cases, etc.)
- Exercise proper cough and sneeze etiquette! (Avoid those who don’t.)
- Avoid social gatherings of any size, especially those that are inside, those that include eating and drinking, and those that include people outside your immediate social circle.
ROHS Registration Conflicts During MB Camp
School registration and MB Camp conflicts happen every year! Students will be excused from Band Camp to pick up their schedules during their assigned times.
MB Freshmen Reminder
All Freshmen marching band students are given a Raven head T-shirt at band camp. We usually have extra Ts available for purchase at band camp also. Freshman will also receive a MB baseball hat, dot book and a Marching Raven yard sign.
Sept. 8, 2020: MB Schedule
Once school starts, Marching Band class will be held, as always, from 3:15 p.m. to 5:15 p.m. Mon-Thurs.

WANTED: Event Chairs and Co-chairs. We need new volunteers!
We have several open Board and committee positions for the 2020-2021 school year. Many of these are co-chair positions (for either Band or Orchestra parents) so you can get your feet wet before really jumping into ROHSBOB. Please contact firstname.lastname@example.org if you are interested or would like to know more about the following positions:
B&O Co-Treasurer: this Board position will be mentored by the current treasurers.
MB Camp & Car Wash: two co-chairs to co-ordinate Band Camp events and distributions with Mr. Jensen. Volunteers will be mentored by current chairs to prepare them for the 2021 season.
B&O Dresses and Tuxes: co-chair to help coordinate dress and tux distribution and fittings
MB Glow Show: co-chair to help plan the show
B&O Banquet: one co-chair to plan the end of the year banquet
B&O Holiday Poinsettia Sales: one co-chair to help coordinate event (coincides with winter B&O concerts)
B&O Ford Drive for UR School: chair to help plan the event in the spring
