Band Parents Meeting This Tuesday: Safety Update
Please come to the Band Parent Association meeting Tuesday, October 2, at 6:30 pm in the band room. Mr. McKeown will discuss the incident with the homeless man entering campus during marching band practice on Friday night and go over the safety protocols we have in place at Samohi.

Then, anyone who is interested -- and definitely anyone who has a student in Wind Symphony or Wind Ensemble -- should stay for the 7:30 Bands at the Broad and Rome tour planning meeting. We have lots of great ideas but are open to even more, and we need a team to help us implement them!

Thank you to Liz Comay for heading up the Bands at the Broad auction this year. If you would like to be part of her auction committee, or can help out in any way, please contact her at [email protected].

Bands at the Broad not only funds scholarships for this year's Wind Ensemble tour, but also helps with our down payment on the 2020 Wind Symphony tour. Let's keep our touring program thriving!
Tuxedo Pickup This Monday
Elite Tuxedo will deliver all of the tuxedos that were fitted, ordered, and paid for to the band rooms on Monday, October 1. They will be available for pickup from 2:45 - 4:15 pm. Any leftover tuxedos will be taken to the band room and will need to be picked up by Wednesday, October 3.

If your child was fitted for a tuxedo but it was never paid for, it was sent back to Elite Tuxedo's stock room. Starting next year, only students who have filled out orders and payment forms will be fitted for tuxedos.

Concert dresses will be delivered to school in early October. Students will have an opportunity to try on the dresses that they bought or will borrow during concert band class periods on a date to be announced soon.

DonateDONATE TO THE BAND PROGRAM!
We Are at 65% of Our Fundraising Goal!
Every one of our children deserves an excellent music education. Our public-school district funds a lot of that education, but there are still funding gaps, and those gaps are filled by your generous donations to the band program.

On average, the Band Parents Association -- funded by your tax-deductible contributions -- spends $250 per pupil per year on the Concert Band program, $750 per pupil per year on students enrolled in Marching Band or Color Guard, and $100 per pupil per year in Jazz Band.  This money pays for much-needed STUFF and STAFF -- read more about that here.

We understand that not everyone can contribute the full amount -- and some cannot donate any -- but every child gets the same education regardless. So, if you can, please donate to the band program today! No amount is too small.
