Wind Ensemble and Wind Symphony families: Soon you should be receiving your packet for the 7th annual Bands at the Broad silent auction. This important fundraiser helps us keep our band touring program going strong, to the benefit of all music students.

As the holidays approach, please keep our auction in mind. Going to your favorite hotel or restaurant over the break? See if they'll donate a gift certificate to Bands at the Broad! Do you have box seats to a cultural or sporting event, lessons you can give, an experience you can share, a vacation home you can offer? Please consider donating, or soliciting a donation!

We are asking each Wind Symphony and Wind Ensemble family to bring in two auction items and at least one bottle of wine valued at $30 or more.

• Buy tickets to the event when the order form goes live!

Students have also organized a Spaghetti Challenge to raise money for the Wind Ensemble Rome Tour. Brave participants get donations from people who want to see them get cold spaghetti and sauce dumped on their heads, and then they nominate three more people to get dumped on. You can donate to someone who's already been nominated, or you can nominate someone to get spaghetti'd, by making a donation here.

MARCHING BAND
Congratulations, SCSBOA Bronze Medalists!
Last Saturday at Downey High School, the Samohi Viking Marching Band competed among 12 of the top schools in Southern California for the SCSBOA Field Show Championships. The band ended the season in third place, earning a bronze medal with a score of 90.25 — while Sunny Hills High School eked out a silver with a 90.5 and Hart took the gold. This is the first time the Vikings have medaled since 2011, when they were a 3A band!

CONCERT BAND
Submit All-State Recordings by Nov. 27
Mr. McKeown needs the students to share their recordings with him by November 27 via Google Drive. When he picks the top 20 students to submit, they will then be given a code to upload their music and scales to the CBDA website. Click here for more information on the All-State Honor Band Auditions.
JAZZ BAND
Jazz 1: Sectionals This Monday!
Remember Jazz 1 has sectionals with professional musicians this Monday, November 19, from 3:00 to 5:00. We are working on a similar event for Jazz 2 in December. Donate to the Jazz Bands to help fund great programs like these!
