Come to Friday Night's Practice
For the evening rehearsal on Oct. 19, Mr. McKeown is planning a full run-through in uniform to prepare for the Viking Marching Band’s very first competition the following day. Family and friends are welcome to come;
arrive at 6:30 pm to catch the full show. Having an audience helps ease stage nerves for our kids and prepares them for the big crowds they'll have at competitions.

First Competition This Saturday!
The Viking Marching Band kicks off its competition season on October 20 at Baldwin Park High School. Check your inbox for a
“school bus” email a few days before the competition with detailed instructions, call times, step-off times, and packing lists. If you have any questions before then, just email Yunilda Esquivel at
yunilda+samo@gmail.com.

|
For competitions, you will always drop off and pick up your student at Samohi – drop-off is usually late morning and pickup is late at night. They rehearse at school, eat lunch, then head out on buses. Their performances are usually in the evening, and all families are welcome to come out on their own and watch them on the field! Entrance fees vary.

Sign Up for the Concert Cafe
As the leaves change color and our long cold winter sets in (lol), we are hosting a Concert Cafe of comfort food that will keep you warm and cozy: mac and cheese, chili, soups, salads, and sandwiches. Because it's October, we might even sneak in some bratwurst and soft pretzels. If you have an old family recipe that you would like to share, we would love to have it. If you’re not too handy in the kitchen, you can also donate your time and/or your money.
Go here to sign up and volunteer with the coolest families at Samohi!
