CONCERT BAND 
First Band Parents Meeting This Tuesday!
Come to the band room this Tuesday, September 4, at 6:30 p.m. for our first Samohi Band Parents Association meeting! Meet the band directors and the BPA board to talk about the year to come! We will also kick off the marching band raffle, sell marching band and concert band merch, and vote to approve the 2018-19 budget and last May's meeting minutes.

 
Marching band parents: Look for the silent auction signup sheet - the highest bidder will get to choose a song for the band to play in the stands at a Samohi football game!
 
Wind Ensemble parents: Stay for the Rome Tour meeting at 8 p.m.!  See Commitment Form   | See  Payment Form  Registration
Registration Deadline Extended for Periods 1, 3, and 5
Since some students did not receive the link last week, Mr. Sakow and Mr. McKeown are giving you an extra week to complete the Samohi Bands Registration Form. All current band students must register by Friday, September 7, for a pass/fail grade.  Fittings
Formalwear Fittings This Thursday, Sept. 6
All Samohi concert band members must wear either an approved concert band dress or a tuxedo (or a black suit, white shirt, and black bow tie) at performances. Fittings will be held during all band periods on Thursday, Sept. 6. At that time, students need to bring in proof of payment and/or an order form with payment to buy, borrow, or rent a dress or tuxedo.

Donate to the Band Program!
Our children's band program needs you! Parent donations pay for instructional assistants, sheet music rentals, repair and maintenance on percussion and major brass instruments and many, many other things. Thank you to the many families that have already donated. Please consider a donation to this amazing program! Raffle
MARCHING BAND
Viking Marching Band Raffle
The VMB Raffle kicks off at the band meeting this Tuesday! Tickets are only $2 each, and prizes include:
1) A brand-new iPhone X
2) A beautiful new iPad (2018)
3) And $200 cash!
 
Order your tickets online now, and share this link with family and friends! We will ask each VMB student to sell a packet of 20 raffle tickets by Friday, October 26. At the football game that night, we will hold the drawing and announce the winners! Fairy
Dinkle Fairy
By now, all marching musicians (NOT Color Guard or Front Ensemble) should have received a personal email from the Dinkle Fairy. If no one has contacted you about Dinkles, please email Alisa Stewart right away. We will place our group shoe order on Friday, September 7. Meals

Meal Plan
All families that purchased the $50 competition meal plan will soon receive email confirmation. If you have not purchased the meal plan, please consider buying it through PayPal. Fan T-shirts for the 2018 field show, "Wonderland," are also on sale for $18 each on the payment and donation form. And Merchandise Chair Erika Arenas will be selling them at Tuesday night's band meeting! Schedule
This Week's Marching Band Schedule

Monday: Happy Labor Day!
Tuesday & Wednesday: 7-8 am
Thursday: 7-8 am and 5-8 pm (royal blue shirt)
Friday: 7-8 am and 5:45 pm call time on JAMS lawn (navy blue shirt)

On Friday evening, students will meet at 5:45 pm on the JAMS lawn for their first varsity football game at 7 pm. Families, come watch your students play in the stands! Tickets are $10/adults, $7/students, cash only at the door. Jazz
JAZZ BAND
Practice Schedule Set!

Jazz 1 will rehearse on Mondays 3:30-5:30pm and Wednesdays 3:30-5:30pm in the Band Room (1st rehearsal 9/5).
Jazz 2 will rehearse on Mondays 4:00-6:00pm in the Choir Room and Thursdays 3:30-5:30pm in Band Room (1st rehearsal 9/6).
Combo 1 will rehearse on Wednesdays 5:00-5:30pm (1st rehearsal 9/5).
SMC dual enrollment paperwork is due on Wednesday!
