MARCHING BAND

SCSBOA Championships This Saturday

The Samohi Viking Marching Band is is proud to be heading into the SCSBOA Field Show Championships for yet another year! Open only to the top 12 marching bands in Southern California, the SCSBOA Championships mark the end of a successful marching season.

Mr. McKeown, the coaches, and the kids have worked so hard for this honor, so let's all enjoy it! We will send out the usual school bus email when we find out the location, schedule, step off time, etc.

CONCERT BAND

Submit All-State Recordings by Nov. 27

Mr. McKeown needs the students to share their recordings with him by November 27 via Google Drive. When he picks the top 20 students to submit, they will then be given a code to upload their music and scales to the CBDA website. JAZZ BAND

Jazz 1: Sectionals with Professionals

On Monday, November 19, from 3:00 to 5:00 ( note new time!), Jazz 1 will have sectionals with guest clinicians during their regularly scheduled sectionals. Students are encouraged to practice hard before November 19 so they are ready for their sectional time with the visiting professionals.

We are working on a similar event for Jazz 2 in December. Donate to the Jazz Bands to help fund great programs like these!

FUNDRAISING

Bands at the Broad

Our 7th annual Bands at the Broad concert and fundraiser is on Tuesday, February 5. This enchanted evening features a special performance by Wind Symphony and Wind Ensemble in the beautiful Broad Theater, with wine, cupcakes, and a silent auction.

To make this the best Bands at the Broad yet, we are asking each family to bring in two auction items and at least one bottle of wine valued at $30 or more.

It's Pas-terrific!

In order to raise money for the Wind Ensemble Rome Tour, students have organized a Spaghetti Challenge. Brave participants will have cold spaghetti with sauce dumped on their heads, and they will nominate three more people to raise money and get dumped on. Look for opportunities to “spaghetti” your teachers and friends!

Our first to be spaghetti'd and sauced were Natalie DiMundo and Alan Schlessinger. Together they raised more than $1,000 for the Rome tour.
