Viking Marching Band Comes in 5th Place at Championships
In a squeaker of a finish, the Samohi Viking Marching Band came in fifth place at the SCSBOA 5A Marching Band Championships in Downey on Saturday.
Earning their top score for the season, an 89.25, the VMB came in just .25 points below the third-place winner, Warren High School (89.5). In an upset, the second-highest ranked band, West Ranch, earned the gold medal, and the first-ranked Rancho Cucamonga captured the silver.
Thank You to Our Families
Our incredible marching band program can ONLY happen due to the generosity of our families who donate their time, talent, and treasure to keep things running. THANK YOU to our many volunteers and to our donors!
Still, we are coming in a bit under budget for the season. If you were able to give all or some of the suggested donation of $850 at the beginning of the year, thank you so very much!
If you couldn't give then but can give ANY amount now, every dollar is appreciated — and more importantly, it's put to good use. Your donations help pay for everything from music and drill design to uniforms and transportation to paying all the sectional coaches who work with our kids every day.
