ECPL Hosts The Librarians Documentary Screening for Banned Books Week

ALA's Banned Books Week is from October 5 - 11, 2025

East Cleveland, OH — The East Cleveland Public Library (ECPL) is celebrating Banned Books Week with a special program in the Greg L. Reese Performing Arts Center.

Banned Books Week will take place from Sunday, October 5 – Saturday, October 11, 2025. With the escalation in attempts to ban books in libraries, schools, and bookstores around the country, George Orwell’s cautionary tale 1984 serves a prescient warning about the dangers of censorship. This year’s Banned Books Week theme is "Censorship is so 1984".

On Tuesday, October 7, 2025 from 1pm to 3pm, the ECPL will host a viewing of The Librarians (2025) documentary film, followed by a community discussion. Come tell us your thoughts on books, banned books and the fate of libraries in this country. The Librarians follows librarians in Texas, Florida, and other states, as they unite to combat book banning in the United States.

The Librarians film screening will be held at the ECPL on Oct 7 2025
