Praise:
Join us in giving thanks for the ways in which the Turkish Baptist Alliance has responded to the COVID-19 global pandemic. With resources from a BWAid grant, the Alliance was able to feed hundreds of people in Adana, Izmir, and Istanbul.
Prayer:
Join us in prayer for the work of Baptists in Turkey among Syrian refugees. Pray that the work would be sustained and be a blessing to all.
Cyprus and Greece

We give thanks for the 2,000-year presence and witness of the church in Asia Minor (now Turkey, Cyprus, and Greece) – the region in which Paul and other apostles first planted the seeds of the Christian faith. We join in prayer for those struggling because of political and economic crises in this region, and we ask for healing of memories and wounds inflicted by early 20th century genocides of Armenian, Greek, and Assyrian communities.

Please join us in prayer for the people of Indonesia who were impacted by a powerful earthquake last week. Roshan Mendis, Director of APBAid, provided the following update.

At least 34 people were killed and hundreds more injured after a 6.2-magnitude earthquake hit Sulawesi Island. Thousands of residents fled their homes to seek safety following the quake, which could be felt strongly for five to seven seconds and damaged at least 300 houses in Majene, BNPB (Indonesian Board for Natural Disaster Affairs) said. Many people are still trapped under collapsed buildings, according to local search and rescue teams.

Please continue to stand in the gap and storm heaven for our brothers and sisters in Indonesia. APBAid is monitoring the situation and in touch with our Baptist partners on the ground.
Doyle Sager, faithful servant of the Lord and global Baptist leader, joined the Lord in glory on Friday, January 22. I invite Baptists around the world to join in thanksgiving for his life and in prayer for his wife, Janet, and their children and grandchildren.

To me personally, Doyle was a friend. He was always ready with a word of encouragement and a smile of understanding. When I was with Doyle, he made me feel as if it was possible to live out God’s calling today. I treasured our time together which was often in various cities far from home and always connected to the mission of God. Like a true friend, his words also brought convicting challenge. Many a week, I found myself growing again through the wisdom and spiritual insight Doyle penned as an outgrowth of his walk with the Lord. For in abiding love, Doyle was a friend of the Lord. The Spirit flowed through him and touched the lives of many.

BWA leaders from around the world have shared of the Kingdom impact and eternal legacy Doyle leaves behind and of their ongoing prayers for Doyle’s family. Over these last few months, Doyle has continued to lead the way, as a true friend does, in a path that has pointed all of us to Christ. The Baptist World Alliance family mourns the passing of our friend Doyle, is inspired by the Kingdom impact he has made, and continues to hold all of his family and loved ones in our prayers.

A Morning Prayer

Our spirit seeks you in the early dawn, O God,
for your commandments are light.
Teach us, O Master, your righteousness
and make us worthy to follow your commandments
with all our strength.
Take away from our hearts every darkness.
Grant to us the Sun of righteousness
and protect our lives from any bad influence
with the seal of your most Holy Spirit.
Direct our steps to the way of peace
and grant to us that this present morning may be peaceful
so that we may send up the morning hymns
to you the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit,
the only God,
who is more than without beginning
and Creator of all. Amen.
