Day of Prayer

Baptist World Alliance Women will host the annual Baptist Women's World Day of Prayer on Monday, November 1. Each year on the first Monday of November, Baptist women around the world gather in homes, churches, and communities to pray together for the world. This unified and dedicated time of prayer has been offered since its initiation in 1951, representing 70 years of impact. Serving in Dallas

BWA President Tomás Mackey completed his first presidential ministry visit to the United States last week, which included multiple preaching and teaching opportunities in Dallas, TX, USA.

Pictured is Dallas Baptist University President Adam Wright, BWA President Mackey, and BWA General Secretary Elijah Brown. Mackey served last week as the speaker for the 2021 T.B. Maston Lecture Series.
Praying for Myanmar

On Friday, October 29, we received information from our Baptist families in Thantlang Town, Chin State, Myanmar, that they were facing a heavy attack of the military junta.
Many of the Baptist families’ homes caught fire, and the fires continued to spread. More than 60 houses have been burned to the ground. Residents have fled the town due to the recent violence, and the response is constrained by a water scarcity and no fire station. Many are now in hiding after Pastor Cung Biak Hum was shot and killed last month, and they fear the church has also been set on fire.

Please stand with us in prayer for:
  • God’s protection over and mercy upon those exposed to this unimaginable violence
  • Relief from the prolonged suffering of the innocent
  • Strength, courage, peace, and provision for our brothers and sisters in Myanmar
I am excited Merritt Johnston has been chosen to serve as the new Executive Director of Baptist World Alliance Women. You can read the entire press release here.

She will begin her new part-time role November 1. Will you join me in prayer for Merritt as she answers God's call to serve with BWA Women in this important season? I will also be praying with BWA Women on the Baptist Women's World Day of Prayer on November 1.
The BWA Commission on Baptist Doctrine and Unity has planned an incredible webinar featuring Frederick P. Deegbe, Paul Fiddes, Glenroy Lalor, Nora Lozano, and BWA President Tomás Mackey. Would you register today to join me as we reflect together on how to be Christ’s one body for the world?
A Prayer from Canada

To wake from sleep into this day
is gift enough for thanks.
To hear a child’s delight in laughter
is gift enough for thanks.
To sip a glass of clean, cold water
is gift enough for thanks.
To watch the sunset paint the sky
is gift enough for thanks.
To share a moment with a friend
is gift enough for thanks.
To smell the fragrance of moist soil
is gift enough for thanks.
To feel the comfort of clean clothing
is gift enough for thanks.
To form the words that make a prayer
is gift enough for thanks.
