The State Bar is continuing its attempt to obtain missing information on attorneys who passed away prior to 2008. If you know of a Bar member who passed away prior to 2008, please email as much of the following information that you have to [email protected] and [email protected]: The former member’s full name, date of admission, date of death, last known city of practice, and copy of the obituary, if available.

UPDATE YOUR CONTACT INFORMATION
The State Bar will be mailing orange postcard reminders regarding membership reporting and fees in June for the July 1, 2022 - June 30, 2023 fiscal year. Please be sure to log into the membership portal and verify or update your contact information (Bylaw 2.02 (b)) by JUNE 1.
Information that you will need to verify or update include:
- Name of Employer (If sole practitioner, enter the sole practitioner’s name)

Address of Principal Place of Business
- Telephone and Fax Numbers
- Email Address
- Financial Responsibility Disclosure (FRD) (Bylaw 4.01 and Rule 4.01)

IOLTA Account Information (Rule 10). Your IOLTA account should be titled: “Attorney or Firm name, IOLTA Account.” (Rule 10.05 (f)). IMPORTANT NOTICE: If your IOLTA account has any reference to the West Virginia Bar Foundation or the West Virginia State Bar, please take immediate action with your financial institution to have the reference removed.

ELECTRONIC FILING
The Supreme Court of Appeals of West Virginia is pleased to announce that effective July 1, 2022, File & ServeXpress will be the eFiling and eService provider for all filings into the Supreme Court of Appeals of West Virginia and the new Intermediate Court of Appeals of West Virginia. Electronic filing will be mandatory for filing in the Supreme Court of Appeals and Intermediate Court of Appeals for all attorney filers.

"Tuesday Legal Connect" Needs Your Help
The State Bar is in need of volunteer attorneys for all evenings during the month of June to field legal questions from the public as part of the "Tuesday Legal Connect" program. Volunteers from anywhere in the state can take calls remotely from their home, office, etc. All you need is a telephone and a computer/laptop/tablet. Volunteers are eligible to receive 1 pro-bono CLE credit for each two-hour shift completed. If you would be interested in helping in June, please email Carmen Howell at [email protected] as soon as possible.

THE JUNE 30, 2022 CLE DEADLINE IS APPROACHING!
Here is What You Need to Know
The reporting period for 2020-2022 ends on June 30, 2022. There will be NO extensions of the CLE reporting period. Under the current suspension process, all CLE credits must be completed AND reported on your CLE transcript by July 31, 2022 to avoid penalty. The late fee for reporting CLE credits has been increased to $200. There is an additional $200 reinstatement fee if you are suspended for CLE non-compliance. The suspension process will begin promptly after all required notices are sent to non-compliant attorneys. All CLE credits for this reporting period may be completed by an on-line means if necessary.
