CLE Reporting Tip



Many members comment that “live/interactive webinar” is not a selection option when submitting a CLE course for approval. When you submit a Live/interactive webinar course, you should select the Attendance option, as this instructional method counts towards attendance CLE credits. If you are submitting a Pre-recorded video course, you should select the Online/AV option to submit the CLE.

 3^rd Family Court Circuit Vacancy

The Judicial Vacancy Advisory Commission is currently receiving applications to fill the family court vacancy created by the resignation of Judge Ellen L. Smith in the 3rd Family Court Circuit serving Wood County. Candidates must submit their completed applications and letters of recommendation or comment no later than 5:00 p.m. on Monday, September 23, 2024. For more information about the application process, please call the Office of General Counsel at 304-558-2000. Interviews will be held in Charleston on Monday, September 30, 2024.

EVENTS

Registration for all Regional Meetings is Open

Registration cost is $100 and includes a meal.  This year attendees can look forward to learning about the amendments made to the Rules of Civil Procedure, a presentation from the Office of Disciplinary Counsel, and special presentation from judges in their local district. Members can earn 3 CLE credits by attending. CLE materials will be sent to the email on file with the West Virginia State Bar 1-2 days prior to each meeting.

Facility Details:  Due to limited capacity for live attendance at the State Bar Center, live registration is limited to the first 35 fully vaccinated registrants. Attendance via webinar is also limited to the first 500 registrants. There is an increased interest in attending webinars, therefore, you are encouraged to register early to secure a link to attend virtually. All attendees, whether in person or virtual, will receive an email confirming registration. If you do not receive a confirmation of registration, you will not be able to participate in the seminar on the day of presentation.  

Note to those attending in person: If you are unable to use the stairs from the first floor to the lower level, please drive down the driveway on the left-side of the Bar Center and enter the building at the bottom of the driveway. Handicap accessible restrooms are available. If you need other assistance, please contact the State Bar 304-553-7220, in advance of the meeting, so arrangements can be made with you.

About:  All newly admitted Bar members are required to complete a mandatory Bridge-the-Gap Program sponsored by the State Bar within 24 months after admission to the State Bar per Administrative Rule 6.03(a).
