The KEA Bargaining Team presented a robust salary proposal to the District on Friday morning. The District Bargaining Team listened intently as the KEA lead negotiator, Cindy Prescott, explained the rationale behind the proposal. Our goal is to negotiate a financial package that is competitive with the surrounding area and utilizes all the money from the State intended for compensation.
After presenting the proposal, both teams discussed and asked clarifying questions. At that time, KSD responded that they will present the KEA Bargaining Team with their counter proposal on Wednesday, June 27 at 8 am. Some encouraging news is that the mythical 3.1% salary cap was never mentioned. We are hopeful that your message was heard loud and clear by KSD. A 3.1% COLA will not attract and retain a talented staff of educators. Thank you for your support in making that message clear.
Stay tuned for more KEA events - they will be coming to your home emails. We know this won't be an easy bargain, and we will need to stand together to get what the Legislators promised. We will receive the District's counter proposal on June 27, the same day as the next School Board Meeting. Make sure your red shirts are ready to go! We will likely need them after receiving the District's proposal!
