Ann Thomas, MD
We are proud to announce that Dr. Ann Thomas is the new Medical Director for the Lions Eye Clinic! Dr. Thomas will generally staff the clinic on Thursdays. Dr. Thomas is a 2019 graduate of the CPMC Ophthalmology Residency Program and is currently practicing at the Sutter Fairfield Medical Campus.

She is delighted to return to the CPMC Department of Ophthalmology because of its phenomenal faculty and residents and strong clinical training.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Thomas enjoys spending time with her family, watching her daughter learn and grow, traveling, trying new cuisines, eating desserts containing dark chocolate, and practicing yoga.

New Chief Resident -
Ahmadreza Moradi, MD (PGY4)
Dr. Ahmadreza Moradi (PGY4) is in his final rotation of the CPMC Residency Program. Dr. Moradi is currently treating patients in the Lions Eye Clinic as Chief Resident and is mentoring the newest resident, Dr. Spencer Harris.

Interesting Fact
Dr. Harris is completing a clinical research fellowship through the Smith-Kettlewell Eye Research Institute, under the supervision of Dr. Arvind Chandna. Dr. Harris is studying the accommodative abilities of multi-focal lens implants and the developmental characteristics and patterns of ocular growth in children. His position is funded by
Pacific Vision Foundation.

Rona Z. Silkiss, MD
Dr. Myra Safo (PGY3) and Dr. Rona Z. Silkiss have recently been published in the American Journal of Ophthalmology Case Reports for A case of ulcerative colitis associated with teprotumumab treatment for thyroid eye disease.

Congratulations to Mustafa Safi, MD (PGY3)
Dr. Mustafa Safi (PGY3) has recently published articles in the fields of cornea, cataracts and retina. Dr. Safi was published for his research of Neurotrophic Keratopathy in the journal Eye & Contact Lens and was mentored by Dr. Jennifer Rose-Nussbaumer. Dr. Safi was also published in the Journal of Cataract & Refractive Surgery for Upneeq for the treatment of speculum-induced blepharoptosis with the mentorship of Dr. Jason Bacharach, Glaucoma Co-Service Chief. Dr. Safi's third publication was with his mentor Dr. Joseph Alsberge, a West Coast Retina fellowship graduate who is currently practicing in Portland, Oregon.Their case focused on Presumed Intraretinal Tuberculosis and the volume was printed ahead of the issue in Retina Cases & Brief Reports. In Memoriam - Wonsuck Kim, DO
Dr. Wonsuck Kim passed away peacefully on January 25, 2021 surrounded by his loving family. In 1992, Dr. Kim completed a Cornea Fellowship at California Pacific Medical Center in San Francisco under the mentorship of Dr. Robert Webster Jr.. Pacific Vision Foundation recently heard about Dr. Kim's passing from Jo Burnett, our past Executive Director.
