Testing of our One Call System
If you did not receive the ONE CALL message last evening, please send a message to your child's teacher. The message should include your child's name, your name and your phone number. This will allow us to update your telephone number in our school information system, Gradelink.

As a reminder, when school is canceled, we send out an email, a One Call, update our website and Facebook page, and notify News Channels 3, 5 and 8.
An Important School Advisory
Please be advised that for the safety and security of all children, the school playground is closed to the public, including St. Bernadette families, up until 6:00 pm Monday through Friday during the school year, unless the school is closed. It is only to be used by our school and aftercare students.
Brain Brawl Competition
On Saturday, October 14, we sent a seventh and eighth grade team to the seventh annual St. Ignatius Brain Brawl. Our team of J ae Smith, Rob Hammer, Adam Zevnik, Hailey Moltz , Luke Stuart, and Hugh Sullivan went up against worthy competitors from Our Lady of Angels, Gesu, LCA, and St. Raphael. We advanced to the quarterfinals in a division higher than last year. Although St. Raphael is the school who took the trophy home, they are one of the teams we tied earlier in the day. We had a fun and rewarding day matching wits with some very tough teams, and we are looking forward to next year.

Thank you to our moderators this year, Mrs. Yanosko and Mrs. Sent. Congratulations to all of our St. Bernadette participants!
Volunteers Needed
Winners of the Magazine Drive will be rewarded with a visit to the "Video Game Truck" which will be on the school premises on Tuesday, October 24th during lunch periods. We need approximately 8 parents to help with the event. If you are interested in assisting, please contact Mrs. Ellen McElvany via email: ellenmcelvany@gmail.com
Where There's Smoke There's Fire
Fire Lieutenant Tim Draves from the Fairview Park Fire Department came to visit our Kindergarten classrooms to teach our little bulldogs life lessons on fire safety , including how to make a fire safety plan with your parents, the importance of smoke alarms and other fire safety instruction. Students asked questions and learned so much during his visit. Lieutenant Draves also showed the children what a fireman or firewoman does during an actual fire. Thank you for coming out to our school!

Energizer Guyz
It was an afternoon of laughing and learning as our K through 5th grade students enjoyed an educational assembly put on by the "Energized Guyz" from the National Theatre for Children. Students were entertained and inspired throughout the interactive skit and found out about how to stop energy from being wasted. They also were taught many important lessons on conserving energy and protecting the resources of our planet, now and in the future. All families can request their very own Energy Efficiency Kit by logging onto OhioStudentKit.com and using promo code FEOH1718. When you order a kit, you can also earn cash rewards for your classroom and our school.
Welcome to Cleveland Bishop Perez
Our St. Bernadette students created and sent greeting cards to our new Bishop, welcoming him and inviting him to our school. We hope he takes us up on our offer in the near future. Students also received prayer cards this past week for them to keep.

On July 11, 2017, Pope Francis appointed Nelson Perez, the Bishop of the diocese of Cleveland. He was officially installed as the 11th Bishop of Cleveland on September 5, 2017. We look forward to the many exciting plans he has for our diocese and we wish him well as he begins this new journey. God bless you Bishop Perez!
