Dear Barlina House Families:
It is truly hard to believe November is gone and here is December. Time sure flies when you are busy and having fun. Now that snow has appeared, we all need to be prepared to go outside and play. Please remember to bring snow pants, heavier coat, boots, hat and gloves. We do go out as long as the temperature is 20 degrees or above. The children enjoy playing outside with their friends.
Each child will be bringing home their progress report this month. Even though we do not schedule parent/teacher conferences, please do not hesitate to contact me or your child’s teacher if you would like to discuss your child’s developmental progress or any other concerns or questions you may have. Teachers are available for phone calls or conferences an hour before class time and also a half hour after. If needed, other accommodations can be made.
Just a few reminders. Please have your children stay in their car seats until the teachers come and take out the children. We just want to be safe. Also, I understand our fire drills upset some of our children, but we need to practice this every month. Everyone needs to know what to do in case of any type of emergency. Thank you for your understanding.
Though this is an exciting time of the year, it can also be stressful and exhausting for both parents and children. Family always comes first, so try to do the little things, like baking cookies together, making a special gift for someone and going outside as a family. Enjoy the time together, and make the season enjoyable for everyone.
The season of snow, cold and icy inclement weather has arrived bringing with it the possibility of school closings. When School District 47 cancels classes due to inclement weather, classes at Barlina House will also be cancelled. Remember to also check our “RainOut Line” to see if school is open or closed. District 47 school closings can be found on their web site and are announced on FM Radio 105.5 and TV Station WGN.
Have a wonderful holiday season and we look forward to the New Year.
Happy Holidays
The Barlina House Staff
