Dear Friends of LightHousePBC,
Sometimes leadership means making difficult decisions.
After carefully evaluating our circumstances just one week before our annual Barn Dance & Chili Cook-Off, we have made the difficult decision not to hold the event on October 24th.
As a leader, I have a responsibility to steward the resources entrusted to us wisely. Sometimes that means recognizing when a change of plans is necessary.
We are exploring the possibility of rescheduling the event and hope to have an update early next week.
On a personal note, I am writing from Ohio, where I have been eagerly awaiting the arrival of another grandbaby. My daughter is now 12 days past her due date, so there is plenty of anticipation on the family front as well. Life does not always follow our carefully laid plans, does it?
I have also been deeply encouraged by the generosity of the businesses and individuals who have donated thousands of dollars in auction items and raffle prizes, as well as by the volunteers who have given their time and energy to make this event possible.
Please be assured that these donations will be handled responsibly. If we are unable to reschedule the event, we plan to move the silent auction online and explore options for the raffles so these generous gifts can still benefit the women we serve.
Although I am disappointed that things have not worked out as planned, I am not discouraged about our mission.
Women in our community are still facing exploitation, addiction, and circumstances that can seem impossible to escape. They still need someone to believe in them, walk alongside them, and help them rebuild their lives.
That is exactly what LightHousePBC will continue to do.
Sometimes you have to change the plan without changing the purpose.
Our purpose has not changed one iota.
