Welcome to the Barnstable County Regional Substance Use Council (RSAC) E-Newsletter. This monthly newsletter is designed to provide information on substance use across the continuum of prevention, intervention, treatment, and recovery. SPOTLIGHT
Reopening Cape Cod Task Force Announcement
The Cape Cod Reopening Task Force announces its new website  www.ReopeningCapeCod.org .
The site serves as a one-stop location for residents, businesses, employees, organizations,
municipalities, and visitors to the region.

You will find updates on health data relevant to Barnstable County, industry specific guidance from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, and information from 19 local industry specific sub-working groups. Safe workplace standards, operating guidance, relief resources, and educational materials are available for business owners, employees, and municipal managers as they adjust their workplaces to mitigate the risk of viral transmission. You will also find the expectations for visitors and seasonal residents outlined by the Task Force members and local health leaders.

Barnstable County COVID-19 Recovery Resources
COVID-19 can be difficult for all of us but especially for those in recovery. This might be exacerbated by people unable to attend their normal support group meetings or other recovery supports. Please click on button below to find local and nationwide resources related to substance use disorder and mental health. Overdose Response and COVID-19 Transmission Risk

The Massachusetts Bureau of Substance Addiction Services (BSAS) has provided guidance on overdose response and COVID-19 transmission risk. This guidance is intended to supplement, not supplant, provisions from regulatory agencies that oversee programs licensed/contracted by BSAS.

COVID-19 Safer Drug Use
For those who are actively using substances, the Harm Reduction Coalition has put together a comprehensive guide for safe drug use during COVID-19.
Coping with COVID-19: Managing Mental Health

On June 4, the National Institutes of Health (NIH) Director, Dr. Francis Collins and NIMH Director Dr. Joshua Gordon, discussed the types of mental health symptoms people may experience as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as when and where to get professional help.
Providers eligible for additional allocations must provide HHS with information, and these providers must also agree to the program Terms and Conditions. This portal is currently open to Medicaid/CHIP Providers.

REGISTER TODAY! Understanding the Impact of SARS-CoV-2 on Communities of Color
Limitations on Visitors in BSAS-licensed/contracted Programs

The purpose of this memo is to provide guidance to all programs and providers licensed/contracted by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health’s (DPH) Bureau of Substance Addiction Services (BSAS) on limitations on visitors. This Memorandum supersedes the Memorandum dated March 23, 2020: “Policies and Procedures for Restricting Visitors in Facilities Designated for the Treatment of Individuals Committed Pursuant to Chapter 123 § 35 during the COVID-19 Outbreak.”
The experiences of Black men with mental illness, substance use disorder, and recovery are unique in ways that have crucial implications for service delivery. SAMHSA’s Bringing Recovery Supports to Scale Technical Assistance Center Strategy (BRSS TACS) invites you to join national experts in a conversation about the experiences of Black men with mental illness, substance use disorder (SUD), or both. Our presenters will highlight current research and describe best practices and promising strategies for supporting the recovery of Black men.

This group is open to Trans, non-binary, questioning, or other gender diverse identified people ages 18+. You do not need to be a Fenway Health patient to join, and the group is free to attend. Meets on the on the : 1st and 3rd Wednesday of each month September-June from 5:30-7PM.
