From Your Councilmember
In our workshop session this week we received a presentation from our Transportation Department updating the Council on the progress of our pavement management program.  Some takeaways:  In 2016, Council allocated $77 Million to this program to address needs of all city streets in a five to seven-year period.  Without regular maintenance, it takes only ten years for a brand-new street to deteriorate into a "poor" condition.  Sealing cracks, curb-to-curb, in a residential street costs about $12,000 per mile.  Total reconstruction of a street costs about $1.5 Million per lane, per mile.  Glendale uses several different types of slurry treatment to preserve our streets.  So far, 304 of the city's 748 miles of streets have been addressed in this program.  You can learn more about our pavement Management Program HERE.
You can watch the workshop HERE.

Also, due to this week's rain, the pavement management work scheduled to begin October 1st for the area from 59 th to 67 th Avenues, Cholla north to Cactus Road will be delayed one week.

Have a Great Weekend,
Bart Turner

I have introduced an idea
designed to remind drivers of the
importance of driving safely on neighborhood streets.
They are  18" x 24" signs,
red on one side and yellow on the other.  Let me know if you'd like one for your yard.
