Despite selling approximately 10% fewer horses, the overall gross increased 23%, the average increased 37% and the median increased 55% over 2017. The average of $10,950 was the highest for any Barretts January Sale since 2001. The median of $5,750 is the highest median at
Barretts January Sale. Nine horses sold for $40,000 or more compared to three in 2016 and this was most horses sold at this level since 2007.
Two-year-olds dominated this sale as six of the nine highest priced horses (as well as the top 4) were two-year-olds. The two-year-old average was $14,097 compared to $5,868 in 2016.
