Barrie has worked as a public interest attorney focused on housing and homelessness, an ADR Administrator for two southern California courts, and as an ESL instructor. She created English for Dispute Resolution (EDR) to help non-native English speakers master negotiation and mediation in English.
She has taught EDR courses at UC Berkeley and elsewhere. She co-founded InterpretADR to help interpreters provide meaningful interpretations for participants in mediations, trainings, and conferences.
She also provides online trainings for Ukrainian mediators and interpreters through the Ukrainian Academy of Mediation. The seeds for all of Barrie’s EDR and ADR work were planted at Community Boards trainings in the early 2000’s.
