About the Program

What can attorneys do when tenants need help but can’t afford legal services? This program explores the state of landlord-tenant cases in the Los Angeles Superior Court, with a focus on the latest research and the growing wave of default judgments. Attendees will learn about vital support systems like the Counsel for Justice’s clinic and the Tenant Power Toolkit, which are making this work more accessible. The session also asks the hard question: is it possible to earn a living while representing low-income tenants? Attorney Fran Campbell will share her insights on this issue and reflect on her major victory in the high-profile Barrington Towers case that made headlines across Los Angeles.

This program is presented by the Real Estate Section, co-chaired by Howard N. Gould and Elizabeth Dryden. This program is co-sponsored by the Litigation Section, chaired by Rachael C. Kogen and vice chaired by Lauri K. Martin. Find out more about the sections at www.bhba.org.
