From the Haberman Institute to your home...

Dear Friends,

It is with a heavy heart we share with you news of the untimely passing of our Board Member and friend, Avi West, z"l.

A powerhouse in the Jewish education world, Avi was not only incredibly creative, knowledgeable, insightful, innovative, and funny (perhaps "punny" is an adjective he would have preferred!) but of most importance a true mensch.

Our board member George Johnson summed up Avi's essence beautifully,
"I will miss Avi’s deep, resonant voice, which was always delivering thoughtful and meaningful words of wisdom. He has left a deep impression full of Yiddishkite and humanity, sensitivity, and caring that I will carry with me. He is someone who toiled in the Jewish vineyard for many fruitful years. We are forever in his debt."

Avi's passing is a profound loss to the Haberman Insitute family, and to the Jewish community as a whole. Our thoughts turn to his beautiful family, and to his many dear friends and students during this painful time.

May his memory be for a blessing. Baruch dayan ha'emet.
