Announcements
Students,

In light of the latest developments Baruch College/CUNY is taking to prevent the spread of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) and changes to the instructional methods for the remainder of the semester, the Starr Career Development Center is expanding our online capability to deliver quality services. The Center staff are committed to provide you with seamless ongoing support to help you achieve your career development goals. Here are service updates for the spring semester:

1.       Starr Search
Please note that employers are still actively recruiting Baruch students and looking to fill various positions at their organizations. Currently we have over 1,500 active job and internship postings and we continue to work with Baruch alumni and employer partners to cultivate opportunities for you. There will be no change in your access to Starr Search and encourage you to utilize the system regularly to search for opportunities.

2.       Virtual Career Advisement
The Starr Career Development Center continues to provide career advisement including resume reviews, cover letter reviews, mock interviews and career assessments to students via virtual video conference calls and/or phone calls. When you request an appointment with a career advisor via Starr Search, please indicate in the 'notes' section your preferred mode of communication. Appointments requested without any preference mentioned will be considered virtual video conference calls by default. Once we approve your appointment, please look out for an email from your career advisor with instructions on your virtual meeting platform and procedures to log in.

3.       On Campus Recruiting and Employer Information Session
We continue to collaborate with our employer partners to provide students with opportunities to participate in our On Campus Recruiting Program. Many employers have switched to an online or virtual interviewing format and are conducting information sessions to discuss their recruitment processes. As a result, we encourage you to continue applying to jobs and internships available on Starr Search. Be sure to RSVP for upcoming employer information sessions on Starr Search as additional information and updates will be provided to registrants.

4.       Modified Career Workshops and Programs
As per CUNY guidelines, the Center will be transitioning upcoming group events, information sessions, career workshops, panels and programs to an online format. Be sure to check Starr Search often and RSVP for workshops and events. We will provide registrants with access information and latest program developments or changes. Note that in-person walk-in services will be suspended for the remainder of the spring semester.

5.       Starr’s Online Resources
The Starr Career Development Center website (Baruch.cuny.edu/Careers) houses many great resources including resume and cover letter guides, information on internship for credit and tips on choosing your major. We provide valuable career resources on Starr Search including tools to practice video mock interviews, Vault.com guides, Focus2 career assessments and GoinGlobal online tool for finding opportunities abroad. We also have additional resources on our social media channels such as Facebook (BaruchSCDC), YouTube (youtube.com/user/SCDCBaruc), Blog (blsciblogs.baruch.cuny.edu/scdc/) and Instagram (@baruchscdc). We will continue to send our Starr Weekly newsletter to your Baruchmail highlighting job and internship opportunities and relevant career information on a weekly basis. You can access these resources 24/7 for your career development needs.

The Starr Career Development Center staff are dedicated to support your career development throughout your time at Baruch and during this Coronavirus outbreak. While we anticipate minor service disruption as we continue to strengthen our online services, we ask for your patience and encourage you to reach out to us at [email protected] for any questions, issues or concerns.

Thank you and be well.
