Baseball
Now and Then
with Ken MacKenzie
Guilford's Ken MacKenzie was one of the original New York Mets, t
he only pitcher on the 1962 team with a winning record (5-4).
MacKenzie reported to Manager Casey Stengel that he was the lowest paid member of the Yale class of 1956. Stengel replied,
"Yes, but you have the highest ERA."
MacKenzie's Major League career included rotations on the Milwaukee Braves, St. Louis Cardinals, San Francisco Giants and the Houston Astros. He has also coached Yale baseball from 1969-1978.
