Was the treasure of the Pharaoh Khufu discovered during Napoleon’s Egyptian campaign, brought back to France, and then hidden in Paris? Christian Robinson—a flamboyant archaeologist with unconventional methods—is convinced of this, following the discovery of a mysterious inscription during recent excavations in Cairo. Determined to decipher the clues left by Dominique Vivant Denon, the first director of the Louvre, Robinson embarks on an extraordinary treasure hunt across Paris, ranging from the Louvre’s dusty archives to the secret chambers of Malmaison. He brings his daughter and grandson along on the adventure, driven by the audacious hope of making the greatest archaeological discovery of the 21st century right there in Paris.
