Did you know that Bastrop County has been designated as a Wildfire County?

Being designated as a Wildfire County means it is at risk of wildfires and has implications for insurance in what is covered in the policy as well as the premiums associated with commercial and homeowners insurance policies.

Did you know there are things you can do to protect your property?

  • Clear your roof, gutters, porch, deck, patio, and fence line of any potentially fire-prone materials (pine needles, dead leaves, etc.).
  • Rake out landscaping mulch at least five feet away from your home.
  • Check your yard for any dry areas that embers could land on and continue to burn.
  • Clean your dryer lint trap every time you use the dryer.
  • Change your smoke alarm batteries every six months.
  • Have a home fire escape plan and practice it.
