How can we help save bats from white-nose syndrome?
White-nose syndrome is a fungal disease killing bats across North America.
Bat counts help us track the population and understand how it is changing over time.
Come out Sat., June 3 to help us count the bats, at our very own roost, in the barn at Dorothy Rider Pool Wildlife Sanctuary.
Steph Stronsick, of Pennsylvania Bat Rescue, and Wildlands' own bat expert Renae Swayser, will be at the sanctuary to help guide the experience and teach some fun facts about these often misunderstood critters.
When the count is done, we’ll wrap up the evening with locally-sourced pizza from Switchback Pizza Company. It will feature toppings pollinated by bats, showing these wonderful creatures' value to the food chain here in the Lehigh Valley and beyond.
