BATES BLAST

Five full days! We are especially excited for the kindergarten parents!

Plugging the Annual Appeal, because 30% of our 2024-25 PTO budget depends on it!

Did you know the PTO spends just under $400 per student, each year?

To break it down, here’s how the Annual Appeal directly impacts our children. The money raised covers two of our largest categories:

  • Creative Arts + Sciences (15% of our annual budget)
  • Field Trip Buses (10-15% of our annual budget)

As of Friday, we're at just 13% participation. We rely on your generosity to make these essential programs possible. The suggested donation is $75 per student, and you can donate online by clicking here. It's quick and easy - we did it while filling abandoned online shopping carts and taking a break from scrolling social. Any little bit counts, so please consider donating today!

VOLUNTEER + GET INVOLVED

ROOM PARENTS

Thanks so much to all who have volunteered! You’ll hear from Carrie soon about next steps and feel free to reach out to her directly with questions in the meantime.

Important heads up: Parents and caregivers will need to opt in to receive emails from room parents in the coming weeks. Each room parent team will coordinate with the teachers to gather email addresses for grade- or class-specific communications. This is separate from the broader PTO emails.

PUMPKIN FAIR 2024

Core memory unlocked! When you look back on your time at Bates, Pumpkin Fair will be at the top of the list. It’s also our main fundraiser that sustains us, especially in non-auction years. This wouldn’t be possible without an army of volunteers, sponsors, and donors… all rolling up to our fearless co-chair leaders. A huge thank you to the dream team of Janet Griffin and Kate Champion. Be on the lookout for their PF exclusive blasts this week!

We still need leads to run the haunted house and prize tables! Please Email Janet Griffin if you are interested and stay tuned for volunteer sign-ups coming to your inboxes soon!

What is the Wellesley Special Education Parent Advisory Council?

Massachusetts law requires that every school district establish a special education parent advisory council (SEPAC) and assigns the organization an important advisory and participatory function. The SEPAC is responsible for advising the district on matters relating to the education and safety of disabled students.

Additionally, SEPAC leadership meets regularly with district administrators and participates in the planning, development, and evaluation of special education programs. Finally, the Wellesley SEPAC fosters community amongst families of children with disabilities to learn more about the IEP and 504 Plan process and provide support.
