Coaches Corner
The team you lead is a reflection and extension of yourself and is also
ultimately  a reflection and an extension of Toms River East Little League.  Always keep in mind how hard of a game baseball is to play.  For hitters. the law of averages are always against you.  You cannot hide when a ground ball goes between your legs.  As a Coach, the ball between the legs or a dropped lazy fly is an opportunity to say:

Never embarrass a player on the field.  It is better to speak with your player inside the dugout and go over the situation to see what the player was thinking and how we could make it better next time.  The pressures of the game especially with all the parents watching are plenty for them to handle without adding negativity.   Baseball is much better played when you are loose and relaxed.  Making your players tight never works out well!

As a Coach ask yourself:  Is sportsmanship, ethics and morals a big part of my coaching philosophy?

I am of the opinion that the "win-at-all-costs " mentality in youth baseball will destroy the focus of player development and ultimately destroy the player's love of the game.   With that said I strongly urge all TRELL Coaches : DON'T HARP ON MISTAKES!  Our job should be to T EACH AND ENCOURAGE.

Rules and Regulations Updates
During their annual November meeting, the Little League® International Board of Directors approved new rule and regulation changes to go into effect for the 2018 season.

Highlighting some of the changes in 2018 are: the establishment of a waiver for Regulation I(d) and III(c) to provide leagues flexibility to structure their Little League Baseball® Major Division to allow teams to have more than eight league age 12-year-olds as well as accommodate more than 10 teams within the division; permission for leagues to stream/web-cast games through their league-owned website, official social media account, or other digital platforms granted they follow all Little League policies regarding commercialization and trademarks; and an update to the bat rule for all Baseball and Challenger divisions to comply with the USABat Standard.

To assist with understanding all of the newly approved changes, Little League has also created a  full breakdown of all of the rule and regulation changes, including clarification on each. This page, found at, will be updated frequently with any new rule and regulation changes.
