Two Events in Battle Ground Last Week, Highly Attended
Leads & Needs - North County Edition
The first installment of Leads & Needs - North County Edition took place on Wednesday, October 10th at Mill Creek Pub. Over 45 business professionals joined us as we started off the event with around-the-room introductions (15 seconds each). Then, after a sponsor spotlight of 5-7 minutes, we counted off and move into small group networking. The Chamber's new North Clark County Ambassador team was ready to go, in their formal blazers, greeting at the door, taking business cards for the drawing and welcoming everyone into the space to connect. This monthly morning networking event will take place again on Wednesday, November 14th at 7:30am sharp. Email Ashlyn Salzman for sponsorship info.
October Candidates Forum Luncheon
The BGCC, LWV, and the GVCC would like to thank both candidates Eileen Quiring and Eric Holt for their participation at the Thursday, October 11th Candidates Forum Luncheon, focusing on the Clark County Council Chair seat race. Topics discussed during this forum included population management and growth, economic development, environmental concerns and preservation, tourism, and touched on the homelessness epidemic as well as the overcrowding of the Clark County jail. Each candidate held different viewpoints on the Chelatchie Prairie Railroad but shared beliefs in paying attention to all the voices of our county, above all. CVTV was onsite and we'll share the link for those unable to attend.
Quotes & Feedback
"The Oct 10th Leads & Needs morning networking event was great! The GVCC team did a super job and I enjoyed it tremendously. Keep up the good work and I will be back for sure next time!"

Gateway Mortgage Group
“I was surprised and impressed at the number of people at today’s North County Leads & Needs event at Mill Creek Pub. I met business owners that I have never seen before and received one, if not two, viable new business leads. I’m excited to see North County expand and grow as the area has so much untapped potential.”

Membership Vote on October 24th - Calling All Members!
What the Vote is For

The Battle Ground Chamber of Commerce Executive Board has been exploring the option of joining forces with The Greater Vancouver Chamber of Commerce in order to improve the level of support and services they can offer its membership. After much consideration, the Board has voted to move forward with a potential merger. Per current Chamber by-laws, the board has determined that a vote of the membership is in order. A special meeting will be held on October 24th at 10:00 a.m. at Mill Creek Pub. All members are invited to attend.

There will be an opportunity for discussion and for comments prior to the official vote. Voting will be conducted by secret ballot with each member organization/business having a single vote. If the recommendation of the board is approved, the Battle Ground Chamber of Commerce will be dissolved and a Battle Ground Council will be created and folded in to the structure of the Greater Vancouver Chamber of Commerce.
Format of the Meeting

Doors open at Mill Creek Pub at 10am.

The BGCC Transition Team will be seated for a panel discussion. Up to 30 minutes of time will be spent answering any membership questions.

No online ballots can be cast, a proxy can be used to cast your secret ballot. One per membership.

The formal language in the Chamber's Bylaws:
Dissolution of the Chamber of Commerce of Battle Ground, Washington, Incorporated, shall be initiated only if a majority of members present at a special
meeting called for the purpose of vote for dissolution, provided prior notification to the membership has been made at least one (1) month in advance. At this meeting the members present shall determine to which not-for-profit organization or charity shall be made any net assets after payment of all obligations. Dissolution shall be with consultation of an attorney.
Thank you to the New North County Ambassadors
"The North County Ambassador team has hit the ground running with their first two events last week! They were warm and welcoming to our guests at the very first North County Leads and Needs on Wednesday (10/10) and the BGCC candidates forum luncheon on Thursday (10/11). We are so happy to have their energy on our team!" -Barb Holbrook, the GVCC Ambassador Coordinator.

Three Options for Halloween Event Participation in BG
The Battle Ground Chamber of Commerce and several partner organizations are offering family-friendly Halloween activities at the 37th Annual Halloween Fun Fest on October 31. Each year, hundreds of families with young children enjoy traditional trick-or-treating down Battle Ground’s Main Street, east of SR-503, from 4:00 to 6:00 pm with businesses that display the jack-o-lantern sign. The “Trick or Treat Trail” is a new aspect in the Battle Ground Plaza parking lot for businesses to set up in 10x10 spots to hand out candy - this is a great option for those businesses not on main street. The City will be at the Community Center from 4-6pm with games, activities, and prizes, while also collecting for the North County Community Food Bank.

The Halloween Fun Fest will kick off with businesses vying for the Spirit Award & Best Scarecrow Contest judged by Mallard Landing residents. The judging is based on originality and creativity. The Spirit Award is presented to the business showing the most spirit by its Halloween decorations and by its employees who dress for the occasion. The Best Scarecrow prize is presented to the business with the Best Scarecrow placed in either the front window of the business, as ‘greeter’ inside the front door, or outside the business. All aspects of each entry (decorations, costumes, scarecrow) must be ready the morning of the 31st for judging from 10:30am – 12:00pm. Mallard Landing judges will then enjoy a lunch hosted by Burgerville. Businesses interested in competing for either or both contests must call or email Kendra Laratta with the Battle Ground Chamber of Commerce at kendra@inkabilitybg.com or 360-723-0151 to register by noon on Friday October 26th.
