Leadership Bay County Learns About Public Safety and the Legal System!

Leadership Bay County Class of 2024 had an amazing time learning about Public Safety & the Legal System this past month!

The class spent the day at the Law Enforcement Center and heard from several leaders in the community about their respective roles:

Not only did they have lots of valuable classroom instruction, students also witnessed a taser demonstration and received a tour of the jail!

Thank you to those who took the time to speak with the class about their responsibilities and experiences! There were lots of great questions and conversations about what is going on in the community.

Their May session will be focusing on Arts & Culture.

Lunch & Learn

Thank you to Heather Spencer, Co-Owner of A Spencer Gellise Salon, for being our featured speaker for our April Lunch & Learn!

She gave an enlightening presentation about ‘Contributing to the Culture of Your Company.’ Attendees learned how they can do their part to create an engaging and thriving culture in their own workplace. Key takeaways were that mindset is everything, and you have the power to make a difference in creating a positive environment and that “if it’s going to be, it’s up to me.”

Mental Health Awareness Month

"Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan continues our focus on improving whole person health and wellness. In a post-pandemic landscape, more than one-third of adults report being diagnosed or self-identifying as having a mental health condition, including substance use disorders and suicidal ideation. These concerns are affecting Michigan residents of all ages and backgrounds. As part of our outreach and in observation of May, National Mental Health Awareness Month, Blue Cross has created this new Mental Health Toolkit as a resource for our statewide partners to use to address this public health crisis and connect individuals to trained mental health professionals and other services.

The toolkit features five weekly messages, along with article links and related images, to help bring awareness to mental health. By addressing the stigma of mental illness, focusing on mental wellness, knowing the signs of mental illness and substance abuse, and learning about ways to help prevent suicide, we all make a difference during Mental Health Awareness month and throughout the year."
