BACH Community Updates

New McKee Clinic Opening January 2024

Bay Area Community Health is excited to announce the opening of a new flagship health center, the McKee Health Clinic, which will be located at 3055 McKee Road in San Jose. The McKee Health Clinic will offer medical and behavioral health services, in addition to BACH's first on-site pharmacy! Dental services will be added at a later date, and a community room will be available to host trainings and meetings that will bring people together to enhance collaborations.

With the unfortunate closure of the La Pala Clinic, BACH is opening the McKee Health Clinic to address the healthcare service needs of the East San Jose community. BACH wants to ensure that everyone who needs healthcare has access to it in a convenient, neighborhood location.

Please keep a lookout for your invitation to the McKee Health Clinic’s grand opening! We look forward to welcoming you!

Mobile Health Program is Expanding

Bay Area Community Health is proud to offer clinic services through a fleet of mobile units. Currently operating eight mobile units, BACH is expanding its mobile health clinic program with five new mobile units in 2024, for a total of 13.

The new mobile units will focus on providing comprehensive dental and primary care services to migrant, recent refugee communities, and unhoused individuals in Santa Clara and Alameda Counties. Staffed by a medical provider and assistant, our mobile health clinics offer a wide range of services, including medical, dental and vision care, health screenings, family planning, and senior healthcare. By offering healthcare services in convenient locations where clients are located, our mobile units help break down healthcare access barriers.

We are excited about this opportunity to expand mobile health services in the coming year and to serve a wider geographic area and additional people who need our help. Stay tuned for updates about our program expansion in the coming months.

World AIDS Day

As the world commemorates World AIDS Day on December 1st, community clinics, including Bay Area Community Health, across the nation are coming together to raise awareness and provide support to individuals affected by HIV/AIDS. One significant force driving these efforts is the support from the Ryan White HIV/AIDS Program, which plays a pivotal role in enhancing access to quality healthcare for those living with HIV.

Bay Area Community Health is at the forefront of the battle against HIV/AIDS, providing vital healthcare services, support, and education to our communities. BACH plays a crucial role in the early detection, treatment, and prevention of the spread of HIV. World AIDS Day serves as a poignant reminder of their commitment to creating a world where HIV is no longer a threat.

BACH offers free and confidential HIV testing to encourage regular screenings. In addition to counseling services are being provided to offer emotional support and guidance for individuals living with HIV.

Additionally, BACH is active in engaging in community outreach programs to reach vulnerable community members and provide them with resources and information. The emphasis is on reducing barriers to healthcare access and ensuring that everyone, regardless of their background, receives the care they need.

As we commemorate this day, let us renew our commitment to ending the HIV/AIDS epidemic and ensuring that no one is left behind in the pursuit of a healthier, more compassionate world..

BACH’s Finding Solutions to Healthcare Staffing Shortages

The healthcare industry, including community clinics like Bay Area Community Health, is experiencing a severe workforce shortage at every level—a crisis that was worsened by the COVID-19 pandemic. The shortage of healthcare professionals, including doctors, nurses and support staff, has reached alarming levels, creating a public health crisis. Coupled with the high demand for healthcare services, this crisis has revealed vulnerabilities in healthcare systems and the critical importance of having a well-staffed and prepared workforce. Despite the challenges, BACH is finding ways to address staffing by implementing a multifaceted approach:

  • Workforce Expansion: Encouraging staff to pursue careers in healthcare through scholarships, incentives, and educational support to help boost staffing and alleviate shortages over the long term.
  • Telehealth Solutions: Implementing and expanding telehealth services to alleviate burdens on in-person healthcare facilities and providers. Telehealth also offers healthcare professionals a more flexible work arrangements.
  • Staff Retention: Ensuring that healthcare workers are supported and have access to mental health resources to retain the existing workforce. This includes addressing issues like burnout and fatigue.
  • Training: Cross-training existing staff to perform additional roles to help fill staffing gaps, especially during surges in demand.
  • Investment in Education: More funding for staff to attend medical and nursing schools as well as training programs to help produce more healthcare professionals.

We know that the health and well-being of our community depends on everyone doing their part to find effective short- and long-term solutions to the healthcare staffing crisis. BACH is proud to be doing its part to support the healthcare system and ensure our agency is equipped and ready to provide high-quality healthcare.
