E-NEWSLETTER VOLUME 10,  ISSUE 2/February  2020

Disaster Recovery Microloan
The Bay-Lake RPC Disaster Recovery Microloan Program provides microloans to businesses impacted by natural or man-made disaster. Eligible businesses are able to receive zero percent interest loans up to $20,000 for repair work and operating expenses until more long-term recovery funding can be secured. Bay-Lake RPC is one of the nine regional entities in the state that has the ability to distribute and administer microloans to impacted businesses. We are currently seeking applicants from a major flooding event that occurred last month in the City of Oconto.

Please contact Sydney Swan for an application or additional information.
Input Requested on Several Local Planning Projects

Several jurisdictions in the region are in the early stages of updating their
local plans. Kewaunee County is updating its Outdoor Recreation Plan, while the Village of Cedar Grove and the City of Gillett have initiated their comprehensive planning efforts and would like your input as they plan for future growth and preservation. As a result, the Bay-Lake Regional Planning Commission (BLRPC) has developed a number of opportunities for citizens and property owners to provide input on these
 projects.

Provide your feedback on the Kewaunee County Outdoor Recreation Plan on the online survey and/or interactive online feedback map.

Point In Time Counts in the Bay-Lake Region

Lakeshore Community Action Program conducted the semiannual Point-In-Time Count (PIT). Bay-Lake RPC staff were among the volunteers during that evening. Over the night of January 22, 2020, a coalition of local agencies and volunteers in Manitowoc, Door, Kewaunee, and Sheboygan counties searched for vulnerable populations experiencing homelessness. The focus of the count is to identify people who might be residing on the streets, in cars, campgrounds, under bridges or similar places. Services needed to help the homeless in our communities are a result of identifying those households. The information gathered is used at the state and federal levels to allocate resources for individuals and households requiring homelessness assistance.
