The 2019 - 2021 state biennial budget created a one-time transportation funding program for counties, cities, villages, towns and tribal governments across the state. This program is known as the Multimodal Local Supplement (MLS) program. Over $73.2 million is available under this program, including nearly $26.1 million for counties, over $18.4 million for cities and villages, and over $28.7 million for towns. The program pays up to 90 percent of total eligible costs, with local governments providing a minimum 10 percent cost share. This funding is available for new projects related to: roads; bridges; transit vehicle purchase and facility projects; bicycle and pedestrian accommodations; railroads; and harbors. The a
pplication deadline is December 6, 2019, and p
rojects must be completed within six years.
Additional information regarding this program can be found here.

Kewaunee County Invasive Species
Wildlife & Wetland Solutions returned to the County to treat the invasive species known as Japanese Knotweed and Phragmites. This concluded treatment for 2019. We would like to thank Kewaunee County and all the landowners who worked with us to identify invasive species on their properties. We will be updating treatment maps that show the locations to illustrate
where herbicide was used on Wild Parsnip, Japanese Knotweed, and Phragmites in 2018 and
2019.
It is important to note that although
we
cannot eradicate invasive
species, we can control the spread with a collaborative approach. Long term maintenance, monitoring, and physical and chemical treatment is necessary. If you would like more information on the Kewaunee County Invasive Species Management Plan we are creating in cooperation with the county's Land and Water Conservation Department, please contact Madison Smith or Kate Nelson. If your property was not treated, we apologize that we were unable to treat every property, but we can assist with providing resources to help landowners treat their own property and recommended techniques.

Funds Available for Petroleum Contaminated Sites
In July of 2018, Bay-Lake RPC was the recipient of a $300,000 EPA Brownfield Assessment grant for hazardous substance and petroleum contaminated sites. Since receiving the grant, the program has been incredibly successful in the Bay-Lake Region. At this time, funds are still available for petroleum phase I site assessments. Bay-Lake RPC is in the process of identifying both hazardous and petroleum contaminated sites for the next grant cycle that is currently open. Please contact Sydney Swan if you are aware of any sites in your area that may have hazardous or petroleum contamination, or if you have any questions about the program.
