Broncho Spotlight
Welcome back to a new school year at Bayless. This year, like no other, we will see incredible growth in our district.
From building solid academic foundations to constructing new buildings and fields, Bayless during the 2015-2016 school year will experience amazing changes. Some of the changes you will see immediately. As you look at the elementary campus, you will see foundations of our new connection project made possible by Prop C.
Bayless has added Cross Country this fall to our sports lineup and I welcome you to join us on Tuesday, August 25th, as Bayless makes history with its first-ever football game when our freshmen take on SLUH. You may also notice our new HS gym floor when you attend a volleyball or basketball game this fall.
There are signs of growth and improvement everywhere you look on our campus. But most importantly, as educators, we are extremely proud of the improvements we are seeing in our teaching and learning. We continue to receive academic achievement reports from the State of Missouri, and they show great and steady improvement.
Welcome back. It's truly a great time to be a Broncho.
Ron Tucker,
Superintendent of Schools

Bayless Shines on State Assessments
Bayless received great news last week with the release of Missouri state assessment data for school districts in Missouri. The data shows that Bayless has improved in almost every category and has risen to be among the top third of schools in the state. Detailed information on these scores and how Bayless compares to other districts will be released soon.
The improvements seen in our scores comes as no surprise. Our dedicated teachers and great students are a combination that allows for success. Over the past several years, Bayless has focused on implementing a system-wide instructional model that focuses heavily on reading, writing, speaking and listening. We have also worked to reducing distractions to the learning environment by being becoming State and National leaders in character education implementation.
Congratulations to our students, parents, teachers and staff for their continued focus on excellence in education.

Building the Future of Bayless - Today
|
From top to bottom, Bayless Board of Education connection groundbreaking, Renovated HS gym floor, and foundation walls emerge in front of Elementary B..
|
In April 2014, Bayless voters approved Proposition C, a no-tax increase bond issue that provides our schools with money for building projects. The main objective of Prop C is to connect Elementary buildings A & B and provide for additional instructional space. Two smaller, yet significant, projects include completing field renovations behind the elementary school and, later, constructing a connection between Bayless High School and Junior High School.
Trico Construction Company won a competitive bidding process to build the elementary connection. On July 1st, the official groundbreaking was held and work started on the project. Currently, crews are focusing on demolition of parts of buildings A and B, site work and foundation work. The emerging concrete foundation of the new addition is now visible between the two elementary buildings.
In addition to the Prop C connection, the District was very busy this summer completing many projects that have improved our campus. Here are a few highlights. In June and July, a new athletic training room was built in the HS gymnasium and the gym floor was stripped and refinished with new graphics. The annex building on Hildesheim Ave was renovated and recommissioned for classroom use. This building will house specialty classrooms. The rear drive behind elementary building B was reconfigured to allow us to reclaim a large grassy area (the island area) for student recreation use. A new drive and parking area was placed behind the stands at Bayless Field to allow for better access to the synthetic field and rubberized track.
Construction areas around the elementary are fenced off from student access. Inside the buildings, fully framed walls separate student educational areas and the construction areas. It is our plan to minimize disruptions for students, parents and our faculty. However, we know that some inconvenience may be unavoidable during this construction process. We thank you in advance for your patience and support while we build a better Bayless.
